Coordinating family shirts?

Last trip I made matching spray paint shirts.. This time I'm not to keen on doing any type of matching shirts, except on MVMCP day, I'm trying to plan red/green/white shirts with various Mickey heads (Santa for Dad, Mrs. for me, Reindeer and peppermint for the kids..) But for the rest of the days.. I think I just want to Coordinate rather than match. Any help with ideas/stores to buy from would be great! There's 6 of us: Mom/Dad, 9 yr old twin girls (one is girly girl, other is def a tom boy) 8 yr old son, and 2.5 yr old son.

HS: Star Wars theme
Epcot: Around the world? Nemo? We plan on visiting the Ocean side more (little mermaid, Coral reef for lunch, Turtle talk with Crush, etc..)
AK: JungleBook? They are into that right now that would be cool..
MK: Well aside from the MVMCP day, we're doing another full day at MK to, so anything for this. Pirates? Not really sure what theme to go with here...

Bonus points for super creative! Lol

Thanks all, I'm kind of drawing a blank on this one..

SOtMK might interest your children - why not let them be knights? There is a knights package at the BBB that is comparatively inexpensive, and the post-Halloween sales are usually a great way to get some cheap costumes if you don't sew. This is one of the things I am planning for my girls. I am going to make them knights tunics to go over their purchased knights costumes (I got them on clearance) with the emblem of the Order of the Hatchet, the only knightly order that I know of that specifically recognised the courage of women. There were some men, so that could do for both your daughters and your sons. Who better than a family of knights to defend the Magic Kingdom? Even the emblem appliqued on a t-shirt with a 'cape' attached to the shoulders would be cool.

I am also planning a pirate day. pirate: Different costumes for the girls, black/red clothes for DH and I to coordinate. Again, there are girly pirate costumes and more unisex styles. There is also the option of a daughter being Elizabeth Swan. Or mermaids. There are makeovers for this too, of course. A more understated way to do this might be coordinating t-shirts and bandanas.

There are other themes that are easy in MK. How about Monsters University or Monsters Inc? The kids can wear themed t-shirts or Disneybound in the appropriate colours. :flower: You can get Monsters University Student ID cards online (as well as faculty ones) that could go in a lanyard as a minimalist costume with a colour-coordinated t-shirt.

I am more OTT than you are, I suspect, so how about just a Disneybounding day? Signature colours are easy to coordinate once you agree on a theme (mickey Minnie, princes/princesses, MU, etc).

Hope I am not too wide of the mark. I tend to go all in, boots and all! :yay:

The only day I have decided for sure is my daughter's birthday. We're doing BBB for her but I know she won't wear the dress all day. Our shirts will say "Her royal entourage" and hers will say something about "This Disney Princess is 5 Today!" or something like that. I've made her stroller sign to say "This carriage is exclusively reserved for Princess Emily".

I'm thinking we will wear the same color and themed shirts but that the rest of the time, our shirts won't be identical. I'll do a stroller tag each day to fit the theme.

You're getting a stroller for her? We did WDW when my son turned 5, and the kid who complained about walking a block suddenly was able to do AK for 12 hours straight with only a lunch break and 2-3 snack breaks.. No break back to the resort. lol but then agai. We tend to kick our kids out of strollers by the time they're 3. Meanie parents we are.. Lol I do like the stroller tag idea, we will have one this trip for our 2.5 yr old.

Thanks for the ideas! We tried the Pirates BBB last trip, son wasn't for it so we won't do it this time. I'm thinking just coordinating t-shirts with a Mickey head matching theme of the day. I'm almost debating just doing MVMCP in themed shirts and forgetting the rest of the trip.

Sure, why not? My son needed one half way through the first day on his 5th birthday. I'm sure she will walk quite a bit but it will be there for her when she needs it. In the meantime, it can hold our park gear.

We always do coordinating vs. matching. There are four of us usually the boys in the same color and husband and I in another or pair up the other way. We are going this year in December too :) I'm already thinking of my designs too. Probably the same idea as you for MVMCP. HS: darth Vader with a Santa Mickey hat. Those are probably the only shirts I'll embellish. Also the magic bands.
I'll like buy from Hanes.com. I've used them before, they are cheap and if you sign up for email you get a coupon code. The colors stay the same through styles.
Let's keep chatting. I'll post what I find.
Do you have a vinyl cutter like a circuit or silhouette ?

In previous trips we have done coordinating...Star Wars on a HS day worked well! We also did a sports day where we all wore different shirts from our hometown baseball team and that sparked lots of conversations with people around us! I found at the Disney store Mickey shirts for the boys and Minnie shirts for the girls! For a MK day we each wore one of the fab five ( not exactly matching, but each wore a shirt with a different character!) when there was only five of us). We might do that again and thinking our youngest could wear Daisy. She's kind of an honorary fab five!
For our AK day we wore tropic wear. They were quick drying shirts perfect for a hot humid day at AK.

I don't have a cricut or silhouette. I want one though. Lol I'm looking at different ideas on Pinterest to do. As for MVMCP, we've decided to get embroidered shirts with various Mickey heads, on either green red or white shirts.

For HS we did tees by James Hance which we got at TeePublic. He does a wonderful series of art called "Wookie the Chew" which is Han Solo and Chewbacca as Christopher Robin and Pooh. They were the perfect compromise for a family in which not everyone is feeling the dress-up love. :)

Whatever you do, pick a bright color for the shirt. That way you can pick your people out of a crowd even if they aren't facing you.

We did orange one year and it worked great! Then the next year we noticed lots of orange colored shirts!! :-)

Here is what we wore on our trip. I let each of the kids pick a character they wanted to go with that park day. We also made some ride specific shirts!

Disneystore.com has one shirt every year that you can get in all sizes from baby to XXL. I've ordered them twice now, the first time for 14 people and for our next trip we have 18 people going, youngest will be 2. This is a different option if you don't want to have shirts made, they are usually priced $12 for youth and $18 for adult, or sometimes $15 each if you buy two or more. Good luck!

I agree my kids were 3, 5 and 7 on our first trip. We rented a stroller for the 3 year old and my 5 year old ended up using the stroller more than the 3 year old. My kids were very active kids, but they cannot handle the miles of walking at WDW.

I wish I could have you speak with my sil. :cutie: VThe woman did an AMAZING job of coordinating outfits/accessories/(even jewelry one day ) for 18 of us ( that met up at AKL from all over the US....for a Super Spectacular AWEsome Sweet 16 Whirlwind of 5 days. She made much of it and so many of the girls were literally stopped to be complimented by CM's.
Seriously, the woman was a genius! Thanks for reminding me of that trip with my niece/friends/family!! :flower:
Hope ur trip is Magical!
