Coolest harness ever!

Thanks guys! :wave2: As a result of this thread, we just bought the puppy dog one at Wal-Mart for $9.47 + tax. DS really seems to like it though he hasn't worn it yet. Just thinks its a stuffed puppy dog! :dog:

Thank you Thank you Thank you! I went to Walmart today and found the puppy one. I had to walk around the baby dept 3 times to spot it though. It was hanging on the formula aisle with some other stuff.

I too thought the child leashes looked rather odd. But I think this will look more like the puppy has the leash.

Very sad :sad2: its not on the Wal-Mart web page. Then I googled, no luck, and even tried Goldbug products( I could tell by the photo on E-Bay) the company.Thought it would be easier to order on-line rather than drive the 30-40mins ( and the gas I would waste in my Expedition!) to Wal-Mart and have them say they have never heard of it. :confused3 Maybe I'll give them a call.

did you try the pet section? :pug:

I am another one of those people who cringed when seeing children using "leashes" before having children. For some reason, this little monkey harness makes is so much more palatable! Thanks for the post. I found one in Walmart for less than $10. I love it!

That's cute! We have a regular blue one from One Step Ahead. DD 2 is STRONG and fast so it's a safety thing for us. We don't use it often but it's small enough to carry around.

Now that I have kids, and 2 very different ones at that, I have different expectations for other peoples' parenting. :)

What are the ages you are using these harnesses for from Wal-Mart? I'm curious because my dd is 3 and she was pretty good when we visited in February but I felt like I was constantly grabbing her as she saw something she wanted to look at and wondered that direction.

And a parent counselor came to her preschool a few months back and she mentioned that safety harnesses were a good thing not to be confused with dog leashes. She said they save kids' lives and we should consider using them in a crowded place. She also asked us all to raise our hands and hold them as long as possible because that is what it's like to be a child and hold an adults' hand. Makes sense, we expect them to hold our hands for long periods of time but don't realize it hurts to keep your hand in the air for so long.

My eldest used to twist and run. It took ONE time of him almost being hit to change my mind about harnesses. I am all for them. I don't like the concept but a Twister/Runner super curious kid can get killed in the wrong situation. Let em run free if you can, if you can't, don't feel bad and bag anyone who tells you how to parent your kids.

Sorry to drift off topic, but I had some really crazy ideas before DS came along and totally humbled me. I thought harnesses were awful, children should behave perfectly in restaurants, should have clean faces in public, etc. All sorts of ridiculous notions! Now with autistic DS's behavior even the folks with wild kids stare at us! :earseek:
Yea, no one knows how you are going wrong as a parent as much as someone without kids lol! I knew it all before the Goat Rodeo came along too. Now I know nothing and am proud to admit it.

My son has autism (will be 4 on our Disney trip) and I plan to try it. He just takes off without a clue, and certainly has no idea of traffic, etc. Again, safety is much more important than people's "ideas". I don't think this harness will work for us, but I love the idea of it. I think we need something pretty sturdy.

Honestly, this one is sturdier than any other harness I've used. The only drawback to it this weekend was that it is hotter than the simple harnesses. Ds didn't want to wear it on the third day and it was much more difficult for us. We watch him closely, but the very second we turn our back he is off. At least when he's had too much sugar. I've yet to find a way to avoid that at disney. It seems like everything has sugar in it there!

I went to Wal-Mart this morning to get the backpack harness everyone is raving about. Awesome concept, it doesn't look like a harness. But I decided against it because the little monkey or dog would be directly behind dd's head and I think that would annoy her. And I agree with a previous post that it might get too hot this time of year. I also didn't like that I had to carry the handle.

I ended up buying the traditional harness that had Elmo on it. dd likes Elmo so I'm hoping she be receptive to using it in big crowds. I also liked that I could attach the strap to her arm as an alternative to wearing the harness. It was a little over $5.

Great thread!
