Just wondering if anyone has had any problems flying with a cooler as a carry-on. It meets the size limit of less than 45 linear inches, but is a hard sided cooler (Igloo Ice-Cube, 14 inches square). The airline wasn't much help. I would hate to bring it and run into a problem. I would like to be able to keep juice boxes and leftovers cool in our room with out renting a fridge. :)

Can I ask which hotel are you staying in? Some of them offer free refrigerators in the room upon request....??

we will be staying at Pop Century. It is our first trip to Disney and I am sooo excited. We arrive next Monday and my DD5 3/4 is absolutely beside herself. We are celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and are hoping for the trip of a lifetime!

I took a roll on cooler, that was soft sided, collapsed (got it at Sam's Club) I decided to check it... I filled it with snacks and juice boxes...

I loved having it the day we went to TL as a picnic box!! It didnt cost anything, we already had it, and it was useful (they didnt have free fridges last July) I just filled it twice a day with ice!! No problem!!

I don't know about a hard cooler, but we did check a soft side collapsible cooler and used it all week. We did a grocery stop with Tiffany Town car and then filled the cooler with quarts of milk and chocolate milk, fruit, juice boxes and pop. We had to empty and refill ice twice a day but it worked out great with no problems.

Good luck.

You can definitely check a hard sided cooler (filled with food) as luggage. But if you don't want to pay a FORTUNE in extra fees for it, make sure you don't bring any dry ice - it's considered a controlled or dangerous substance (for baggage), and they'll charge you an arm and a leg if you have it.

Also, you can't put ice in the cooler, you can only use the blue ice packets (that don't leak when they melt).

So if you don't use dry ice or normal ice, only the blue ice units, then you should be just fine.
