Hey guys! =] So, I'm a really huge fan of music that not everyone knows. It's basically all I listen to.
Now, I have a radio show with my friend in coordination with my school. At the beginning of it, we used to get calls all the time asking "Who was that you just played?! They were awsome!" and I felt good getting local unsigned names out there for people to enjoy their music.
But as the weeks go on, I'm getting less and less new music! I need some help!

So if anyone could help me out by dropping a few names, that'd be great!
Much appreciated!:goodvibes

Rex Goudie.
He's not a band, but he is unsigned. He had a deal with Sony BMG, and had two albums with him, but when the contract was up, they dropped him.
He's been in Tennessee lately writing music, he has a new song on his Myspace that I really love.
I love all of his music.
I've met him before, he's such a sweety.

Well, the bands I listen to are signed, but not to major labels or anything. If you to go here, I posted a huge list of songs/albums/artists, and a couple of those are indie. How obscure are we talking?

I love this band called August Reliance.
They're really good.
They're from St. Louis, and really no one knows about them, but they have great stuff.
Bleeding For You is an amazing song.

I know they have a few CDs out, so they're probably signed, but not a lot of people know about them and they are pretty amazing: Amber Pacific.

Has anyone else heard about they? They're Alt Rock.

I know them.
My friends likes them a lot.
They're really good.

Joe Brooks
The JeanMarie
Vic Kingsley

These three bands are amazing and each have a different sound. I heard all of them perform live and on the internet and they are pretty good.

Benjy Davis Project

Josh Ritter

Gary Jules

G.Love & Special Sauce

Neutral Milk Hotel (Kinda)

and if you want some older stuff no ones probably heard of

Nick Drake (He's dead)

fall of apollyon
triumph and the parade
danger is my middle name
black box pilots

Although the following bands are not unsigned, they do not get the recognition they deserve.

Ben Folds - been around forever, used to be in Ben Folds Five. Everything from quirky piano rock to ballads. Love him.

Jens Lekman - Swedish song writer who's music can make you crack a smile or crack your heart.

Owen - a project by Mike Kinsella. Insightful lyrics set to music mostly made by computers.

Neutral Milk Hotel - now defunct band with an underground sound and wordy lyrics.

The Moldy Peaches - best known for their contributions to the Juno soundtrack, they're an anti folk group with some hip tunes.

Rouge Wave - one of their songs is currently playing on a Zune commercial. Very interesting sound.

Fiona Apple - popular for ten minutes in the 90's, her second and third albums are musical masterpieces full of emotion and melodies.

Manatee And A Mandolin - band local to San Antonio with an ever changing line up. Check out their Space.

The Zuttons - fun, retro sound with upbeat songs and simple lyrics.

I'll think of more later, I'm sure. =]

Depends on what you like,

I'm more into the mellow, indie, alt rock sort of sounds ].
Anyways, here are some of my faves;

Joshua Radin-- male solo artist, great voice, GREAT lyrics. He's amazin, one of my favourites(check out closer).
Of Montreal--Pop/Indie
Broken Social Scene--bascially a canadian indie supergroup featuring the likes of Leslie Feist (of Feist), Emily Haines (of Metric) and Kevin Drew
Tokyo Police Club popular group around Toronto (check out Nature of the Expiriment)
Schuyler Fisk--really cool female solo, acoustic. (check out paperweight, features Joshua Radin)
NEverending White Lights (check out The Grace which features Dallas Green of Alexisonfire/Cuty & Colour)

Enjoy! (click names for links to myspace pages)
