Cooktop w/ wall oven versus Range

We're on the final stages of our floor plan for the new house. At the last minute, came up with some extra room in the kitchen - YEAH!! So, I originally had a range with a microwave/hood in the plans - which I'm fine with. But, now there's room to do a cooktop with a wall oven and microwave - I don't want a double oven. So, any reason to spend the extra money on the cooktop and wall ovens? I like the look of the hood over the cooktop - but I'm also trying to cut costs where I can - and this simply isn't a "must-have" for me. So, other than the look, is there any benefit to doing them separately?

We have a Jenn-Air cooktop that has the downdraft ventilation system...and it's in an island in the center of the kitchen. It's nice because we don't have a vent hood at all.

If I had the opportunity to add new things to my kitchen, I would pick an ice maker and a warming drawer.

When you're buying appliances, don't forget to check ebay. I purchased a brand new wall unit Jenn-Air convection oven/oven combo for $500 (including shipping)...which in stores would have cost over $1000.

The other benefit I can think of is that the wall-mount oven has the flexibility of sitting higher than it would with a typical range.

I really like that I don't feel like I'm going to fall into a wall oven when I take something heavy out.

One other possible benefit is that you can have gas for your cooktop and electric for your oven. Some people really like cooking over an actual flame. It's never been that big of a deal to me, though.
