The recipe I'm working on calls for one "bunch of thyme tied." How many sprigs in a 'bunch' and what do I tie them with? I hope someone answers soon - I'm halfway through cooking :rolleyes1

do you have kitchen twine? Cotton string works just as well. (make sure you remove it later!)

I would say bunch can vary based on your liking of an herb, and what you are putting it in. Less can be more in my opinion. You can always add more later but you can not take it out.

Good luck,
Mrs. Disney Ron

Yep a bunch is just a handful of the twigs (like 4-6) tied together with cooking string(The string that you tie up a chicken with- you know just some cotton twine kind of thing.kitchen string) Good luck and if you can't do it you could also tie it up in Cheese Cloth if you have that and just plop it in - be sure to remove it though.

What are you making?

Thanks, everyone, for the quick response. I'm making a lamb ragu. After browning and a serious wine reduction (3 cups of red,) it's now in its second hour on the stove. I'll be serving it over fresh pasta with a salad. How's that sound for a coming home dinner for my DH who has been out of town working? :thumbsup2

mmm sounds good- how did it turn out? And I bet it was a nice home coming.

Thanks for asking, Java. It was absolutely scrumptious. My DH said it was better than anything he had in restaurants while he was gone. :thumbsup2
