It is finally time for new pots in our house. My set is 23 years old- WestBend- and almost all of the handles have broken and come off. We have searched and searched for the handles (internetm, westbend etc.) and have been unable to replace these handles...........so new pots for me! :)

I would be interested in hearing what kind of pots you would recommend. I may even buy each one separately as I don't need all of the pots that sometimes come in the sets....I will see about that.

I have heard a lot about Paderno....but that is pretty much it.

Please give me your opinions :)

I have Wolfgang Puck stainless steel and LOVE it.

My mom has Le Crueset and swears by it. It's cast iron but very costly.

I just bought a set of Calphalon and love them.

I have a little All Clad, Le Creuset, Calphalon, & Aubecq.

I didn't spend a fortune either. I got my All Clad at the Williams-Sonoma outlet, Le Creuset at TJ Maxx, Aubecq at TJ Maxx, & just got my Calphalon set for Christmas. I find different types work for different dishes and I would prefer not to have a set of one kind.

I have been reading about the Calphalon, do you have the stainless steel or teflon???

I have the teflon Calphalon and I love it so far. Target carries it and the prices aren't too bad. You can buy it by the set or by the single pot/pan.

We're also in the market for new pots. I really like Le Creuset, but I find they cook a lot faster than my regular pots, so I really have to watch the food carefully when I cook in them. Or maybe that's the way food is supposed to cook and I don't know it because my pots are crap.

Anyway, I have to cook a lot more before DH will let me drop that kind of money on new pots (I've been watching the prices at Tuesday Morning, Marshalls, outlets, etc.). He's not buying my argument that good pots will make me a better cook

I just invested in a set of Calphalon Contemporary Nonstick (Target carries the Calphalon Kitchen Essentials line) and I cannot say enough good things about them. They cook beautifully, clean up so very easily and look beautiful. I absolutely love them. I started with the 2-pack omelet pan set which I use as skillets. It was a good way to test the pots out without commiting a large amount of money. Once I decided I liked them I started adding other pieces.

I didn't buy the starter set that they offer but put a set together myself. I got a few of the "Special Value" pieces on amazon.com (Griddle, 2-pack omelet pans, etc.) and the rest I got on eBay. Make sure if you buy them on eBay you put the word New in your search. I ended up buying several pots from one seller who has a cookware store and was selling shelf display pots. I got them for less than half of the retail price, which is great considering these pots are quite pricey. I probably spent about $400 for the following:

5 Quart Saute Pan
8 Quart Stock Pot
3 Quart Saucepan
2 1/2 Quart Saucepan
1 1/2 Quart Saucepan
Griddle
Square Grilling Pan
8" Omelet Pan
10" Omelet Pan

So I definitely give two thumbs up to Calphalon. Good luck with your search.

I bought the hard anodized non stick set at Macy's for $200 (10 pc). I love them so far. My old set was a stainless set of Revere ware.

I have All Clad stainless...I really like them! My BIL got a set at the county fair, I don't know the company but they use surgical steel instead of stainless steel, they are magnetic, and tout "waterless cooking." I will see if I can figure out the name. Best value for those will be at a county fair, though...

I just bought a set of Calphalon and love them.

Did you buy the teflon or stainless steel. I went looking this afternoon and really like the stainless steel, but the set was 800.00. I am hoping to head to the states next week sometime and hopefully find them for a lot less.
