So, ds wants to make cookies for Christmas. We will do them this weekend, but can I freeze them till Christmas? Or will they get nasty in the freezer? Can you tell I don't cook?:)

Cookies are actually one of those items that freeze VERY well. Just make sure that you cool them fully, wrap them up well, and then store them in an airtight container.

Actually, if you do them this weekend, there's no need to freeze them. Christmas will just be a few days away. Just keep them in an airtight container, like Tupperware. :goodvibes

Only problem with that is there won't be any left on Christmas. I have zero willpower.:rotfl:

Dr. Oz had a special on food leftovers for the holidays on yesterday and it surprised me when he said only leave baked goods out for about 2 days. He said they mold easily. If you don't plan to eat them within the next couple of days after baking, then freeze them.

My mom always stores her cookies in airtight containers and they've always seemed fine. She does keep them in a cool (low-50s) room.

We also leave out the stick of butter that we're using, so we tend to live on the edge. ;)

For years and years, I baked more varities of cookies for Christmas than you could ever imagine.. Everyone had their "favorites" and wanted tins full for gifts.. I had to start baking on Dec. 1st to have them done in time for Christmas Eve.. Never, ever froze them.. Kept them in airtight containers in a very cool, dry place and they always tasted fresh..

A close friend used to do the same thing.. She kept hers on her unheated, enclosed front porch.. You would never know how "long ago" she had baked them..:santa:
