Cookie Boat at Blue Bayou

I couldn't see this on the menu database but do they still do the gorgeous cookie boat dessert at the Blue Bayou?

We were there a couple of weeks ago for cookie boats, and although it was delicious, it wasn't quite as spectacular as I've seen in pictures. There was no candy sail or anything and the plating wasn't all pretty. I think that it's because they're doing some sort of kitchen refurb right now and hopefully that's temporary, but I don't know for sure. It could have been because we pissed them off by only ordering dessert, who knows. We all really enjoyed it anyway, though.

We ordered the Cookie Boat during lunch a few weeks ago, and it had the sail, etc.

It was great! It's a really big dessert and it could easily be split with two or three people.

The sail is edible.

We were there the second week of August for dinner. The cookie boat is on the dinner menu. We ordered it and it was REALLY GOOD! Huge too. We split it. As far as the sail goes, we had no sail. Our waitress told us that the company that makes the sails for Disneyland stopped making them. She thought it was some sort of contract dispute. She warned us before we ordered it in case that was the only reason we were getting the cookie boat. Admittedly, it didn't look as cool without the sail but who cares? We ordered it to eat not to look at.

FYI: I've read several reviews of the food at Blue Bayou which were kind of harsh. We found the food to be pretty good and the service was good as well. It's overpriced for sure, but it's Disneyland. What isn't overpriced?

The sail is edible but it's made from very hard sugar, I almost chipped a tooth on it....LOL We decided it was a better keeper than eater. LOL But, then it broke. Why not split a plate? You can just ask for an extra plate and not pay the split plate charge, you only get 1 set of sides/starters but it's still a lot of food. And you get rolls with your meal as well.

Yeah, that's pretty much how I felt about it. We ordered 4 for our party of 8, and with that atmosphere and our stuffed bellies afterwards, it was the best 40 bucks that we spent all week.

I had one of the cookie boats for dessert last time I was at the Blue Bayou. The sail was advertised as being edible, and I tried to eat it just to see if it was true.

Yes, the sail is edible. But it has no flavor. And its hard. Its edible in the way that cardboard is "edible". And the rest of the dessert was okay, just like a giant ice cream sundae over cookies. In other words, nothing really special without the over the top hard sugar sail.

But no sails on them anymore? Boo, I'll order the creme brulee next time.

And uh...my cookie boat was much larger than the one in the picture, with many more scoops of ice cream. It was so huge that me and hubby felt silly for ordering it. (Is the restaurant making them smaller now? Or did I get an off day in the kitchen with the dessert chef supersizing everything?).
