The only restaurant I know of is Plaza Inn that serves cooked green beans with their kids' drumstick meal.

Does anyone know of any other restaurant within DL that has a kids' meal with a *cooked* vegetable? My kids won't eat the standard carrot and celery sticks that come with everything I've seen so far. I've checked all the menus online and hoping somebody knows something else!

Thanks.

Just a thought, but if the restaurant has cooked veggies for adults, you could always ask if you can get those subbed into the kids' meals in leau of the carrots/celery.

We usually eat at the French Market, and love the citrus chicken. It comes with seasonal vegetables, which I believe has always been cooked squash and carrots. The restaurant is cafeteria style, so you could probably ask for a scoop of cooked veggies (whatever they are serving at the time) to accompany your kids meal.

Also the Bengal Barbeque has a vegetable skewer. Not sure what kind of veggies come on it, but they are at least roasted.

Great question. I hadn't thought of that yet. My DD3 doesn't like raw celery or carrots either, but loves just about every kind of cooked veggie. Thanks for the tips :)

Thank you all.

Yes Kailuagirl, if you're there for several days+ it's slim pickins for cookd veggies. Most, if not all, of the kids' meals only come with raw carrots and celery or those yecchy brown apple slices.

I have tried asking at French Market matter of fact, and their children's meals are pre-made so they wouldn't make a substitution. I guess I could ask to just buy a side and see if they sell it. If not, I'm back to square one. Hopefully they'll part with some of the squash from the citrus chicken. :)

Huh, I haven't had trouble customizing kid meals at French Market although I have never asked for the cooked vegetables for the kids. The last time we ate there was this past summer. Maybe the answer depends on server. It never hurts to ask. We have substituted mashed potatoes for the rice in the chicken and rice dish. We have asked for beef and rice, beef and mashed potatoes, other things that I haven't seen on the posted signs.

Another way to go if you have more than one child is to just order an adult meal and have them share. We do this a lot since we go on multi-day trips, and the kids would get pretty bored of the limited selection of kid meals. Since we carry in our own water and rarely buy drinks, kids meals aren't all that necessary for us.

Carnation Cafe serves sauteed vegetables with their adult meals. Since it's a table service and you get more interaction with your server, you might be able to substitute sauteed veggies in the kid meals there, although they have a pretty limited selection of kid choices, so, once again, we tend to order for the boys off the adult menu.

To the best of my recollection, the Bengal Barbecue veggie skewer has a small potato, chunk of onion, chunk of zucchini, chunk of yellow squash, one or two mushrooms, and one or two pieces of green and/or red bell pepper.
