question: how hard is it to controle ECV. I have never used one i have used a normal wheel chair and would again if my dh wouldnt get so tierd from pushing me, thats one the reasons we are settling on evc but just asking like how hard was it to controle it. i dont want to acdently go to fast or anything.

Jade: it is very easy. You have to push a lever with your thumb to make it "go"--if you take your thumb off the lever it stops almost immediately. You can also control how fast it goes--there is a little round button that turns from a "turtle" (slow) to a "rabbit" (fast). My suggestion would be that you start out in "turtle" mode until you get used to it. I would also suggest going to an area without many people and trying out how to turn, etc. until you get the hang of it. It won't take long.

oh and one other suggestion--if you are worried, go to a grocery store or Costco. They all have ECVs available for people to use in their stores and it will give you an idea of how they operate. they will probably even let you take it out in the parking lot and try it first!
