Convince me I don't need a Cart

We're doing a 4 night stay soon and decided not to get a cart. We were last in the cabins in March 2009 and hardly used it, since we basically use it only to get to the boat dock for the MK and just tooling around FW. We drive to the other parks. The MK wasn't open all that late, so we really didn't use the cart to tool around too much either :) This trip the MK will be open late every night.

We requested the 100 loop, but know that is a near impossibility :) Our second request is for the cabin we have always received in the 2500 loop. It's not too far from the bus stop. If you can believe it, the only time we took the internal bus was last year when we stayed at the CR and went to FW for the Segway Tour.

So, please convince me not to rent a cart. :) I'm one of the original guinea pigs for Kenny's service, and don't even know if he'll let us have one for 4 days, maybe if I beg :)

Sounds like since your primary focus is the parks, then you don't NEED a cart. None of us "need" a cart, but when your vacation consists of hanging at the campground with friends and riding the cart around for the sake of riding, then that's a different story.

No one "needs" a cart. We are lucky enough to stay at the Fort for months and have been for 9 years. We never rented a cart, but we bought one two years ago. I just can't see $60+ a day. We like to count the number of $60+ carts sitting all day at the boat and bus stops when the Fort has a great bus system. We can sometimes beat the bus to the Outpost by five minutes!!!!! If you are staying at the Fort all day and you use the cart for the whole day, you can get $60 out of it. It's just too much money for what you get.

I agree with Carol...why spend the money if you arent gonna be terrorizing the campground...save the money and use it on a killer restaurant!!

Go every year - never get a cart. We eat so good, we gotta burn those calories somehow. Walk, walk, walk!:goodvibes

We are in the same kind of situation as you. 4 night trip but tent camping. We will have a bit of time to tool around the Fort-but really just one day. I am torn between just renting a Disney cart for the day-or-Kenny did quote me a 4 day price. Our trip is not till October so I have some time to decide...

Nobody NEEDS a cart, they're just a heckuva lota fun!

ok... ok....

I know no one needs a cart :) I can afford it and want one, but don't want to throw away money like I felt I did last year in March when we hardly used it :)

I was just wanting confirmation that I really won't miss it all that much :D

I MISS IT!!! Lol DW doesn't want to rent or buy a cart but i would buy one and "trick it out" in a heartbeat! I will keep trying tho...:rolleyes1

I agree and since 1984 when we first started going to FW every year or so and now with 400+ nights at FW we have rented a GC TWICE and each time for less than 2 days.

We rented twice, once for a day, then for a week. Then we bought our own and bring it on every Fort trip. Rarely use it at other campgrounds, but all the time at the Fort. Yes, I'm overweight and old and could use more walking, but I like the cart for helping DW after her back surgery, running errands, looping, and occasionally getting to the outpost to pick up mail.

And our ticker is wrong. We slipped in a one week trip in three weeks. Then our sig line will be old. DS13 and DD13 will be 14 in June and July. So little to do ...so much time...No. Check that. (Willie Wonka)

Don't forget you can "bike" around the Fort. The kids and I biked for hours last year and loved every minute of it.

IMHO it is necessary if you are in a Cabin and have either kids or some kind of hdcp. If you are in an RV nearby to the meadow or the dock, maybe not.

We rented one for two days from Disney last time we went, and loved it! We both agreed that the Fort will never be the same without a cart. So we contacted Kenny, and he's going to rent one to us for our four day trip in June! woohoo! And its literally half the price of what you'd pay at Disney.

I can't imagine being there without a cart. The first year we went we rented one and then we just had to buy our own cart, at least that is what my husband told me. :lmao:

Whenever we are lucky enough to get to the Fort we always take our cart with us. :goodvibes

We debated about getting a cart for weeks but finally decided to get one (through Kenny) as we will be there for 7 days at the end of sept. and we are bringing my inlaws who are in their 70's.

1. it will help them get around esp. to the pool, campfire, restaurant, dock etc...- we are planning on two days relaxing at the campground and i'm sure my DH and DS will be crusing around just for fun.

So it was a little pricey but i figured we are saving a bunch of money by camping, we can do the golf cart - even if we don't spend the entire time crusing the campground.

Did without one for 30+ years. Then we rented one because we took my mom a couple of times & she cannot walk very far. Enjoyed it so much we bought one.

Looping is always fun.
