Converting Room Only into MYW to get Free Dining? - worth it?

Based on the dates for Free Dining last year, I anticipated our arrival day would be a black out date. As a consequence I booked a Room Only reservation for the arrival day and a Magic Your Way for 8 nights for the following day.

I was wrong and the dates this year are a bit different. Our arrival day is included in the Free Dining Promo.

My question is: do you think it's worth merging the Room Only Reservation into my Magic Your Way reservation to get the extra Table and Quick service?

I've heard that Disney may need to cancel the Room Only booking, refund the money, and then charge that extra night to the MYW package. Is this true or can Disney just merge the two together without the hassle of having to refund and charge me again?

If Disney require the Room Only to be refunded and then need to charge it again, it may not be worth it for me because I'm overseas and am charged conversion rates on my Visa and don't want to pay it twice.

Thanks all.

I'd just see if they can add a day to your 8 day pkg. Shouldn't be a problem as long as there's availability. You wouldn't have to pay another deposit. Afterwards just cancel your room only res and get that refund.

Yep, what PP said. I've called and added days to my reservation twice already and have not been charged extra and did not have to cancel and rebook. Just add your days to the one reservations...if that day is available, just cancel your room only.

and so they won't have to refund me the room only booking?

See my problem is, I've already paid my room booking in full - which cost me extra in terms of international transfer fees.

If they refund it and I have to pay more on my MYW package, then that's extra transfer fees I have to pay. Basically I've then paid the same transfer fees twice; once for the room only and then again for that same room in the MYW package. This will offset the benefit of the extra free dining credits.

If they just cancel the room booking and shift the amount I paid directly to the MYW package then I'm happy because I won't have to pay anymore transfer fees.

So they won't have to refund the room only before they charge me the MYW extra night?
