Converting m2ts files to mpeg4

Hi I'm looking for some help and advise please

I had an ipad2 for Christmas and I was hoping that it would be a doddle to upload all the videos from my Panasonic tz7 camera.

The still photos worked like a dream and look great but the videos was a different matter !!!

My camera records avchd video in m2ts format and I think I need to convert to mpeg4 for the iPad

I have had a quick google and there is lots of software that says it does this but I was wondering whether anyone had any recommendations as to which was the best one to use - I'm hoping it's not to tricky as I'm not the worlds greatest techie

Handbrake, it is free, easy to use and has preset settings for the iPad.

Thanks very much I'll definitely have a look at that.

dd has a play date on Friday so I'm going to try and get converting and on the plus side there will be no one there to see me cry like a baby when I can't get it to work

I like putting my Blu-ray DVDs on my Apple TV for streaming. A couple of times I've had handbrake not able to convert certain m2ts files and found this program...
