Conversation with an ex-Imagineer

Eisner is the best thing to ever happen to Disney.

It will be the second (behind Walt's death) saddest day in Dis history when Eisner moves on.

Well, if I had any doubt, the simple fact that this statement could be made without inducing a multi-page flood of response from 'the usual suspects' illustrates that there are some empty chairs at the table.

You pop in for some enunciation lessons and neglect to tell me I'm becoming "cult famous"? Where is your head, boy? :p

I agree with CasualObserver. Obviously trolling, or so out of touch with this board that it doesn't deserve a response.

But one statement did catch my eye:
I have never heard anyone dispute what Eisner did for Disney the first ten years in reign.

MY GOODNESS!!! Have I written all those many pages for over two years for nothing!! :(

If you'd like to discuss it, start a new thread. I don't want to rain of my good friend's parade.

Thanks for the post my main Pirate!! Keep 'em comin'!!

"I think the poster was merely trolling and we all, collectively chose not to take the bait."

Personally, I was just wondering if ME or his family happened to live in Tampa Bay...... That would have explained the post.

:smooth: I've had the pleasure of meeting ME about 8 years ago in NYC. From my jaded viewpoint (I'm a shark...ahem I mean an attorney) he seemed like "just a guy" who was in the right place at the right time. Don't get me wrong, I feel that getting some "new blood" at the helm can only help, but I feel if he played it safe, he wouldn't still be in his position today. Yes, he's greedy and wants to run and own the world, but truly who doesn't?

ME doesn't live in Tampa Bay.....and I wasn't trying to "bait" anyone.

I was meerly stating what I believe to be a simple truth. ;)

:( Couldn't answer your post right away, our cable system has been down for 2 days, and we just got back on line today. Anyway, fair question. We initially started the conversations with CMs in a Eisner-negative fashion. My wife, however, being the smart one in the family, suggested that we simply bring Eisner into the conversation in a normal fashion, ie; hows mikey doin'? have you seen him latlely? what's eisners plan for WDW? stuff like that. But we truly get the same negative response eventually when the CM realizes we are not a "plant" from the home office. We really feel that there is bad feelings regarding eisner as far as WDW CMs are concerned. Take care. ;)

For what it's worth, my daughter seconds this thought - - - IN SPADES!!!!

I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but just for this thread I'll do it again. Corporate business has changed dramatically over the past 5-10 years. I don't think it matters if you're in the entertainment business like Disney, or some other field. Where concern for the top quality product/service was once the objective, now it's a matter of the best quality/service that can be delivered while continuing to grow profits and slash costs. Compromises are ineveitable. So I have to ask if this is a transition that ME had to make for himself, and the company to survive. What if someone ran Disney with the same vision and TLC as Walt and because of the economical circumstances the company folded? There have been plenty of good companies providing top notch product/services that have gone under during the past decade because the paradigm has shifted.

Doesn't mean I like it, or that ME is 'da man. Just an observation.
