Conventions during ceremony

I was told today that on the day of our VR there are two conventions going on. One is a medical convention, no big deal, but the other is a high school convention which consists of a bunch of high schools getting together for some kind of convention. The evening of the VR is their last night at the Swan and they have conference rooms booked all around where our reception will take place. I have visions going through my head of high school kids running around the place blowing off steam after being cooped up. And I can understand that, I was a teen myself (many years ago). Am I crazy for worrying? I have spoken with my EM about it and as soon as she found out, she told me she was going to see what she could do about the situation (not sure what can actually be done). I seriously thought about changing the date, but we already have invitations printed and our video and photographer and harpist booked. We've planned so much for this, I just don't want anything to happen to ruin our special night.

I think I read somewhere (possibly the Unofficial Disney Wedding Guide), that if you book a wedding (VR too?) and a convention is scheduled in the same place, that Disney will take care of it, possibly financially compensating you for it. I will look tonight & see if my memory is right....

You should check on what type of convention it is. I am a high school club advisor and I just took a few students to a national convention in Nashville. You would never know that the hotel was full of over 6000 high school students. It was fantastic. I would bet that, depending on who it is, you may never even know they are there. Now, on the other hand, if it is just a trip of some kind like, say for seniors, it could be a different story.
