Convention Hotel Rates

I saw online there is a convention at the DL hotel for our dates in December. You can make the reservation online. Has anyone ever said they were there for the convention? Just curious as the rate is for $149 a night!

Disney has been kind of 'cracking down' on making sure that people who book with convention room rates are, indeed, actually attending the conventions (they were even calling guests to confirm this for an upcoming homeschooling conference), so it is not something they advocate and we are trying to now discourage anyone from promoting being able to obtain a convention room rate (or convention tickets) here on the DIS - unless you are actually attending, that is. Since Disney frowns on it, and they do lurk here on the DIS periodically, we don't want to upset DISboards' relationship with DLR.

I figured it was worth asking, I hope Disney extends their military discount like DW to December. I will keep my fingers crossed!
