Anyone have one? Love it? Worth it?

Our microwave has finally given up - the handle popped off when I was heating something up and now it works when it feels like it and doesn't when it wants to be stubborn. In short? It's old and we need to replace it.

So we started looking at a new microhood and saw a few that grill, roast, etc. I think we've settled on a combination microwave/convection oven and I wanted to hear from anyone who has one.

Can you really bake cookies? Bread? Roast a chicken? Does it really have little to no preheating and you can use it in the summer without heating up your house (a HUGE selling point for me, if true!)...? How do you modify recipes from a regular oven to a convection?

I am totally intrigued by this and anxious to hear from any experts out there.

Thanks!

I had one and never, really NEVER, not even once, used the convection part. It was here when we moved in. I would not spend the extra $$.

We used to have one. I LOVED it especially on holidays when I needed more room for my oven. It does get hot like an oven but it really does not heat up the house. You do have to prewarm it to get it to the proper temp for baking. Our lasted about 10 years. I would love to have another one one day.

And you don't have to change the recipes at all. The convection part works just like a regular oven. You even are able to use metal in it. I used it tons in the summer time so the kitchen did not get so hot.
