I may be a bit more patient than some (just a bit) because I haven't been obsessing over the timeline. But now...

I received this yesterday-

Just a note to let you know that the closing company has forwarded a copy of the recorded
deed to DVC with the request that they complete the transfer in their system. Please allow
12-14 BUSINESS days for the transfer to be completed. Once the transfer has been completed
by DVC Membership Administration and the points have been transferred into your account by
Member Services), they will MAIL you your DVC Membership ID number, which will be required
when contacting Member Services (1-800-********) regarding points usage/reservations.

Two posts I've read referenced seeing your contract on the Disney site. I don't even know what that means. Any light you can shine on the remainder of the process would be appreciated!

You obviously don't have an existing DVC account otherwise you would be able to get into the site and see your points.

Since this is most likely your 1st DVC purchase they will send your contract to DVC and Member Services will have to set up your membership account from scratch. You will have to wait until they send you a membership card and an address to access the site. In the future should you decide to add-on it should take a couple of days less since you will have an existing account.

I've heard of people calling Member Services early to check on the process and being their member number over the phone, can't say for sure this will work for you but all they can say is "no". Just don't call too early.

Hang in there, it's almost over. You'll have your points sooner rather than later. Congrats on your membership!

I have existing contracts and just added a re-sale. Three weeks ago I saw my points listed on DVC membership site but there was nothing under...zeros all the way down. When I called they told me it was a "shell" and they would load the information after Labor Day. I called twice this week and no one seemed to know anything but it was just in "limbo". They don't know how it slipped through the cracks..found the right person and everything showed up on DVC within hour.

They called that evening to tell me it was available online.

Oh my! Sometimes Disney IT has some real holes in their system. It's a good thing you were proactive and called.

Glad they found the right person to set things right. More importantly they called you to let you know it was fixed.

I don't expect Disney be perfect!! I have always had good luck with them trying to make things right "with a smile".

Glad it is done. I must not have minded this first re-sale to much. I am already scoping out something else.

I closed on Aug 14th. I started calling daily (#3 for administration) starting Mon, Aug 25th and finally got someone in accounting to tell me on Friday, Aug 29th that my account (closing date) was due to be processed over the holiday weekend and cards should be mailed on Tues after Labor Day.

On Tues Sept 2, member services and accounting gave me enough info to access my account online (points loaded). About a week later, I received a letter telling me my account number and that membership info is coming......

As of yesterday, Sept 12, no membership package. I called and a CM told me new membership packages take 6 weeks to arrive after being processed and I was being inpatient. (I don't believe this is accurate info.)

I've read lots of info here about DVC. It seems that routinely new members have been getting their packages in the mail within a day or two of being able to access their membership number by calling.

I called today... the rep told me she could see my name but was not able to give me my membership # over the phone. She told me to wait for the package... :(

Did you choose option 3 for Member Accounting?

Weswife, I got my number over the phone last Thursday. I selected choice three, Member Accounting, and she gave me my number and was very nice. I then got transferred to Member Services where another wonderful CM very patiently helped me set up my online account. My points were there and I have been able to make reservations.

Did you/they use the last four digits of your SSN for security identification?

Did you provide your broker/DVC your SSN for security identification?

:earsboy: Bill

Bill- if we do provide the ssn does it mean Disney is unable to provide the member number over the phone????

That's what I am trying to verify. Some brokers provide a form for you to list your SSN, I thought it was required on all real estate transactions after 9-11.

Some new owners seem to have less trouble getting their info from MS, others are told to wait for the mail. Maybe the difference is the SSN?

I was told by MS that security is the reason for requiring the delays and mailing.

I know that Disney cannot verify the validity of a given SSN. Take it as you may.

They pull credit reports so I would think that they could verify an SSN if needed, not that they do.

We didn't provide our SSNs throughout the resale process, but they gave us our info on the phone just last week. They verified the names on the contract, address and telephone number.

Weswife, I'd try calling back... I've read that different reps give different answers. I did also just get my member # in the mail this Monday, a week after when I was able to get it over the phone. Good luck!

I did not provide my SSN either. I just called and they verified my name, address, and phone number.
