Does anyone have an example of a contract that they have used to rent a reservation? I may be renting one and I was told that it would be a good idea to use a contract. Also if anyone has input on how you have been paid for a rented reservation, curious about that also

thanks for the thread info. What would you suggest for a reservation that is 30 days out? Since I have been finding it takes MS at least 2 weeks for a new confirmation letter, I would not be able to get the renter their letter really quickly, thus feel that the renter may not want to pay 50% down for me to change the reservation.

Unless I was using points in holding status, I would not rent something that is 30 days or less away without payment in full before the reservation was even made. (Of course the payment would immediately be returned if the reservation was not available). If the renter backs out, the points used would either be forfeited or go into the holding account. Either way, the owner loses.

If your points are already in holding, I'd ask for 50% up front and the rest after I call him/her with the confirmation number (Which you can get verbally from MS after the reservation is made). You could also print out a copy of the reservation from the member's website, but I don't think that would show the renter's name. Short notice reservations require a LOT of trust.

thanks for you advice. If something did happen and the renter backed out, I can still go on the trip, just would rather not. These points have to be used this July, so either I rent them or use the week myself. I think the reservation number will stay the same, so as soon as I make the name switch I can call/email the renter and give them the ressie number.
