Today I watched the (Monday), Oprah show with Bob Greene and the successful weight loss and healthy eating stories. Result- I think its time for some personal re-evaluation.

I kept telling myself, yes, I need to do the contract, then said "well, not yet", I am going to eat at this function, and no, not until after that weekend - there will be too much food there! Okay, okay okay, I think I got it - NOW IS THE TIME TO DO THE CONTRACT.

There was a comment made regarding sticking to it, to get off those last few "hard" pounds". I still have several to go and though I think I can do it I am just not as serious as I REALLY need to be, to get them off. Yep - sounds like a contract is needed here.

I read about all the WISH successes (daily, weekly, goal) and I want to be there too! So, fellow-losers I am thinking it's contract time for me - anyone else see the show and feel the same way?

Any other - WISHERs out there with a self- contract or thinking about it ?

:scratchin :scared: ::yes:: :faint:

I did see the Oprah too, and laughed when she kept saying "they aren't ready to sign no contract" I think I remember when she signed that originally, and made it through a big night, like the Emmys, without a single drink of champagne and she was so proud of herself. Yea, that looked like a good place to be.

How long is your contract for?? I will sleep on this tonight toopuckerup:

I wouldn't say I have a contract with myself but I have made a commitment to follow my program of choice (SBD) faithfully. I started December 1 and made it through all the holidays cheat free so I am fairly confident that I can continue this route until I reach goal. The real test for me will be when I go to Disney in June. Thankfully, that's still 4-1/2 months away and I have time to think about my food choices in advance. That seems to be the best way for me. It's when I get caught "out there" without a plan that I could be tripped up so thank goodness that most Disney restaurant menus are available on the internet.

I did see the last 15 minutes of that Oprah episode and I wish those women success. They will be missing one advantage that we have though - they don't any WISH buddies!:hyper:

I haven't signed one yet  But I think I am getting closer and it will just be until my one year anniversary of working on my new healthier lifestyle (March 12th)

So short term but doable :p

I too saw the show, I liked the idea, it almost seemed final or shall I say a new beginning.
Anyway, although I haven't literally signed anything for myself, there are a few things that I do that are along the lines of a contract.
The biggy is that once that WATP tape is running.......I FINISH IT!
The other is my water. In the morning, I fill up my water bottles and I FINISH THEM TOO.
These are laws within myself.
THe first guest on that show was amazing! She looked so good, and to think she did that in a year!
good luck to ya.

I didn't see the show, so I'm not really sure what you're all talking about  So if someone could please let me know what exactly the contract is etc. I would be grateful. TIA
:hyper:

I saw that show, and I have the old book by Bob Greene called Make the Connection. I have been reading that over the last couple of days, and his website and boy does he make sense.

He talks about working out in "the zone" to make exercise effective. 20 minutes of working out in the "zone" will supply greater results than 60 minutes not working in your zone. In your zone would be getting to the point that you dont' want to talk, but rather focus on your workout. You are tired and winded, but you could see yourself finising. He says you should shoot for between zone 7-8. 7 is what most people will do, especially at the begininning. Only highly trained athletes should work out at 9. 10 is near death, lol!

You can print out the "contract" online at Oprah.com

Also, he really pushes stopping eating 2 hours before bed. I am very guilty of eating very late at night. Lately, I seem like I can't get past these few pounds I gained and I seem to wake up weighing the same as I went to bed weighing. As if what I ate never left my body. So for the past 2 days I stopped eating at 7pm, and by golly today my scale was down to 141.8. It's been 144 consistently every morning for the longest time. There may be some truth to what he is saying. It's something I want to keep investigating.

I need to get something to motivate me to start exercising again. Otherwise, next January will roll around and I won't be able to walk the marathon. I may try to use his approach to start training. The only problem, is I can't do it really well till the weather gets better or I get a treadmill. Dh better finish the basement soon!

Sorry Catherine,
I meant to give links:

Here is the link to the show:

Hope this helps some. Bob is into exercise as a way to help you control your weight. Also eating healthy foods.[

Thanks Melanie, for the information and the links. I really appreciate it. I'm going to check those out.
