Has this ever happend to anyone? Here is the info from the disney pin trading site-
WHAT IS A "CONTINUING THE TRADITION" PIN?
Also known sometimes as a "CTT" pin, this pin was created for Guest recognition by Cast Members. Leaders at the Disneyland® Resort and the Walt Disney World® Resort award this pin to Guests. Criteria for the CTT pin includes Guests who demonstrate positive Disney Pin Trading etiquette and promote Disney Pin Trading. The award is spontaneous and random.

THANKS!!!

Yep, ourr DD (5) got one on her last trip when she pin traded with a CM in Tomorrowland. It was really special for her and she loves the pin!

You have asked this on the right board. A lot of our fellow traders and collectors here have recieved this pin. For some it was long over due and for others it has been a small reward for all they do... But all have deserved it...

I hope you too can someday feel the thrill when one is given to you or a member of your family.

I was honored to receive two of these awesome pins (two different years) from Scoop Sanderson, the MK Pin Ambassador, when I took a group of my middle school students to WDW and we all went to one of Scoop's pin chats.

My mother was awarded this pin last November. Both my mother and I love to talk to all different people and early in the morning after a wonderful breakfast at CP... an extremely nice gentleman handed a special pin to my mother (after she told the story of how much fun she was having trading pins with all the CM's.) We took pictures with him because he was so nice... he told us that only one pin was handed out per day... at the time I thought he must have meant, he only had one of those pins to give out that day!!!
We didn't realize just how special the pin was until approx a month later when I read about it on this board!!!
What a wonderful dose of magic it was to be chosen for this extra special gift!

I have to share this story with you guys, since someone has this thread going....

I worked at my shop in Downtown Disney yesterday, and a dad came up to me, asking for my help with a problem. His young daughter had traded pins with a CM earlier in the day (I could not figure out if she traded for a lanyard pin or a CM pin, ie the pins we can pick up at CoD), but it got lost from her lanyard on the bus. Dad got a number to call, and the name of the bus driver. I tried to connect him to this number, but we have no outside line on the shop floor, and the operator connected me to Central Lost & Found. While I was placed on hold, I told Dad that since it had just happened, if the pin had been turned in, it probably would not be at Lost & Found just yet. We hung up the phone, and I directed him to the DTD guest services, but I also gave him the honest opinion that the pin was more than likely gone. I felt so bad I was ready to go home and get one of my CM pins to give to the girl. I took his info (he was staying at POR) before he left, but made no promises.

After he left, I spoke with one of the managers in my zone. She is a good friend, and I wanted to see if she had any pins (that would normally go on our lanyards for trading) that I could take over to this girl. She had one of these "continuing the traditions" pins. After my shift was over, I took the pin, and a note, over to POR and dropped it off for them. They were still out enjoying our resort, but I hope that the pin helped the little girl (she was around 8 YO) get over her pin loss. Her dad said she loved trading the pins with CMs.

:flower: ...and your good heart, Doombuggy, is what pin traditions are all about. I truly know they appreciated your kind gesture. Caroline :teacher:

I disagree strongly with what several people have said about the CTT. Flame me on this if you want, but it is extremely overrated and given randomly.

This thread seems to have at least three examples where these pins were given to people who did not earn them.

I have burned about this for a long time. Many of you knew JudySue and her love for pins and pin trading, and her helping new traders. This was even before pin trading was recognized by Disney as a profit center. Anyway JudySue was never awarded either a CTT or Scoopie or any similar special pin and here I see them given to a five year old and another child who lost a pin. Where is the QUALITY of this? It was supposed to be an award and JudySue earned it several times over.

Mike - I am so sorry that Judy Sue did not receive a CTT pin, I agree that she certainly did earn it many times over. I do feel honored that I did receive one - every year I take a group of middle school students from here in MA, and through the generosity of a number of people, they each have a lanyard and pins and carry on the pin trading tradition while we are there. I have never asked to be recognized by anyone - actually getting these kids there is more than enough reward for me - but for those people who have received the CTT pins, please do not discourage them from feeling proud!! Whatever the reason they were given, and however much the recipient understood the concept of the CTT pin, someone had a special reason for giving the pin to begin with.

As the father of the 5 year old who received the pin, I find it hard to believe that anyone wouldn't see the "quality" in letting her get a Continuing the Tradition pin. She is thrilled with her pins and will be, I imagine, a life long collector.

I do not know JudySue, and it sounds like she does wonderful work for Pin Trading, but I don't see how my 5 year old getting the pin is negatively effecting her. Maybe I'm wrong.

I am sorry my story bothered you. After speaking with this child's dad for the 10 minutes I was on hold with lost & found, he was telling me about how much his daughter loves trading pins with the cast members here at our resort. Yes, she was heartbroken over losing the Jasmine pin she had (for all I know, that's her fav character); it was my original intention to drive home after my shift ended at 7:30pm, and get one of my own pins to give her, then drive back to POR. One of my managers suggested this pin instead (ok, she knows I live 12 miles from work and work SEVEN DAYS A WEEK). I thought it was a great idea, because it was special & this child loves pin trading. I had no problem going out of my way to help this child, b/c I thought it was worth it. Sorry you disagree.

Congrats to your daughter... And for you Doombuggy for doing what this pin was meant to do... Continue the tradition. May your daughter look at that pin and remember what a great time she had and how kind a CM was to her. And may she remember to pass it along... Not the pin but the Karma around it.
