And BTW ripleysmom, weren't you banned from here before? Nice to see you back. Not.

Anne

Thanks for that bit of information. I thought her style of writing (debating) was very familiar (over in the Community Board). I always wondered what happened to her. Now I know. ;)

I've been following this thread from the start and can't believe the nasty turn it's taken. :confused3

I have followed this entire thread with interest. I am 6'1" and 275. No problem sitting in my seat at any event or on an airplane. That said, I don't have a ton of room, either.

Ducklite, you handled it exactly as you should have. Maybe the CRO or FA's were in a rush to get the bird in the air, maybe they didn't want to deal with it, but in the end, they did not show you very good customer service. They dropped the ball.

I am a bit surprised by the attacks on Ducklite later in this thread. Of course the CRO has their own version of the situation, but why would Ducklite come on here and portray it in a way to make her look better? Continental dropped the ball, period.

Say that there are two sides to every story and move on, Simplotswife. No need to get pounding away at Ducklite..... you said your opinion, now let it go.... it is Ducklite's thread, not yours.

Finally, thank you for the picture of Elizabeth Swan, Ducklite. Nice! :teeth:

Have a happy day, everyone!

I was thinking the same thing. It can't be fun to confront someone who is already seated about moving because they are too big for the seat. In addition, if they removed the COS couple then the flight would have been delayed while they waited to remove their luggage. It was much easier for them to stonewall Anne, or at least tap-dance until they were sure the Virgin PAX were not going to make it.

Anne, just found this thread. You did a wonderful job of keeping your cool. I probably would of been deplaned :rotfl2:

All you wanted was what you paid for - no more; no less. I am flabergasted at Continental's lack of customer service. Absolutely no excuse. Shame on them.

Yep, gotta chime in for the OP - not that she needs it :) Its her post, her experience and her view but no less valid. If someone has another viewpoint or experience then they can post their post.

Having just had my own "airline" experience I don't doubt her one bit!

I am going to start my own thread and don't want to jump on Anne's. But, long story short I volunteered to move as I was a solo traveler and a 4yo and his dad were separated. The FA's said if they don't get seated together we don't fly!! I was on the asile in row 7 and since I was flying alone and know the dilemma of being separated from my dd's I volunteered.

I got moved to a window seat next to a COS and I immediately put down the armrest. She didn't like it and reallly didn't fit but graciously accepted it, she was middle I was window. Honestly as bad as I felt for that dad and his son I will likely never volunteer again:(

FWIW, it was the 5 families with lap children who didn't put them on the lap but instead tried to save a seat for the free lap child that caused alot of chaos on my flight. The FA's took the easy route IMHO and just seemed to re-seat people to cause the least "confontation" as possible. This and past posts is why I totally understand Anne's frustration.

I will give the other details on my "airline" experience tomorrow. I wish anne - the OP had better experience with customer service - I hope I do as well.

I didn't know that differing viewpoints were not welcome at the DIS. Ah well...I am still entitled to say that I don't believe her version. No one likes that? Hey that is what ignore is for. :thumbsup2

Why does anyone come on the DIS looking to complain about customer service and look to put themselves in the most positive light? Funny thing is that if she were complaining about Disney (and Anne has done that as well) I'm thinking that people would not be so quick to just take her word for what happened.

You know the best part is that they did, in fact, almost deplane her because they thought she would be rude.....wonder where they got that idea. :rolleyes1

Hmm. Is it actually expected you should not fly them again?

Or, put it another way, if you do get some compensation and you do fly them again and you do experience the same problem again, would the airline be entitled to deny compensation the second time?

In my opinion, no, the airline can be expected to give decent customer service with the court system used repeatedly if needed.

As far as getting on an airline's blacklist when it was the airline's fault including poor customer service, I dare say you would have a case for getting reasonable value, not just magazine subscriptions, out of your remaining frequent flier miles.

American offered me 10,000 frequent flyer miles for compensation for my drama with them - I declined. I would have to continue to fly their flights to earn another 15,000 miles just to be able to use the 10,000 "free" miles they gave me. I didn't care to spend my money with an airline that treated me so wretchedly - I don't want to hijack this thread with the details but will share them on another thread or via PM if anyone is interested.

Are you kidding? They won't let you fly on their planes because you complained about bad service?
[/QUOTE=Alice Sr.]

Yes maam. They will let me fly but I am "flagged" so that I have to go thru the additional screening line and my luggage and carryons are automatically searched by hand.

My continued presence on this list was confirmed by an AA supervisor at Dallas/Ft Worth just last June.

I'm a Mom in a mini-van - hardly a threat to National Security. ;)

Apparently this thread has started to go around in circles with lots of personal attacks. And it appears that all the advice needed to cope with the OP's situation has been said amongst the replies. Therefore I close this thread.
