We are staying in Kidani this week and when we got back to our room yesterday the message light on the phone was blinking. It was a cast member message saying that they are testing a continental breakfast, she described it as a grab n' go with cereals, whole fruit, fruit cups, yogurt, bagels, danish, muffins, juice, tea, coffee. They accept cash, room and card charge and dining plan. It is 7-11am in the Sanaa lounge.

Could be good for those on the dinning plan stay in Kidani or just want a quick breakfast? Wonder if the coffee in Sanaa is going to be better. If we go down and look I'll try and get pictures if anyone is interested.

I'm interested. We're staying at Kidani over the labor day weekend! :cool1:

Oh I would love this. But I think I'd also love a TS breakfast at Sanaa : )

Wow this is great news. Just stayed at kidani - beautiful with great rooms, pool and activities but practically no food. With 2 small kids sanaa is nice but it doesnt cut it. We ordered room service for breakfast which we did only because there was no better option. Adding dining choices - particularly for breakfast will be a great help.

Went down today and had a look at what was on offer. Picked up a croissant and a chocolate twist along with :scared1: a latte!!!!!!! I think I am going to be going down every day for a coffee fix now. I went down around 7:20 and I think I may have been the first, the food we had was fantastic. I tried to tip the server and she recoiled from my money like it was diseased. She said they aren't allowed to in the morning :confused3 but given the decent coffee I would have liked to. Gets my vote for convenience and a treat for the kids, they had even eaten all their cereal by the time I got back to the room.

Hopefully menu, prices and photos below

Thanks so much!!! THis looks great!!!! Staying at Kidani one night in Oct and 5 nights in Jan. Was worried about having to truck on over to Jambo for food. Btw...it's my first time at either AK resort....tell me I'll love it!!!

Glad to see they are trying some new things, but this doesn't really appeal to me. I have continental-type breakfast food delivered with my grocery order. In fact, the kids had cereal every morning on the balcony watching the animals on the savannah at Kidani on our summer trip in June. It cost significantly less than the prices I saw in the picture and I didn't have to go downstairs to get it.

While it wouldn't appeal to me, I'm glad some are able to take advantage of it.

I think that's a great idea. While it would add up $$ over the week it would be really nice to at least have the option to grab something on the way to the bus in the morning.

Wow! That looks great! I hope they are still doing this when we are there in October. We often have cereal bars and toast, but this looks better!

It does not appear to be a good use of a Dining Plan CS credit though!
Cereal, milk and a drink????

I'm glad to see something like this done. There was an issue and Disney is trying to work on it.

Great idea! I've always stayed at Jambo, and the lack of CS is the main reason. Do you happen to know the hours for this? Obviously, they're open by 7:20, but how long are they open until? I wouldn't mind walking over to Mara for lunch or dinner, but at breakfast time, this would be wonderful. This makes me ready to consider booking Kidani on my next stay, assuming the "test" becomes permanent (I would fully expect that it will).

Me too! It would be enough for me to go for a studio in Kidani!

Meh. You can get cereal, milk, juice, coffee and sweets at the resort gift shop. Only thing different is that they give you a place to sit while eating. Not much of an improvement, IMO.

We love Kidani and normally don't do breakfast. We like the Mara and when we come back from the park we get off their and have lunch and take the shuttle from Jambo to KV.

I agree! But I am glad to see they are trying to make it more accommodating so you don't have to go to Jambo. I wonder if the muffins, etc could be used for a snack credit like at other quick service??

Its nice they added this option.

While I'm not sure I'd plan to use this, I might if there's a time crunch or its too cold or wet to trek to Jambo. It does remove a disadvantage of Kidani, too.

I wonder how well this would work at the Turf Club at SSR? Instead of waiting in line for an hour at AP to order..go the continental breakfast next door.

Although the QSDP option shows how much the plan has changed through the years. When I first used the DP at Main Street bakery, they said since lunch and dinner = entree+desert+drink. 2 rolls=1entree and a 3rd=desert + drink. While 3 giant cinammon rolls is excessive for 1 person :o, 2 pastries and a fruit (or at least 1 pastry, fruit coffee and juice does not seem out of line.. )
