Where I work they are changing a couple of plants (these that make weetabix and the mini weetabix) into 24/7 12 hour continental shifts. Has anyone else had to change from an 8 hour shift pattern (mornings, nights and afternoons) to this? If so how did you find the change?

Hi Paula

I've worked loads of different shifts over the years. Easilly my favourite was nights (no hassle off management!), the worst was working the 3 shift pattern..week of mornings, week of afternoons and a week of nights. Could never get used to those and always felt exhausted. I'm now on 12 hour continental shifts, nights and days. I love it..so much free time as your 12 shifts are over 3 weeks and you get a week off every 3 weeks. It's not for everyone though as it takes a bit of getting used to, especially remembering what shifts you are on. As long as you have a rota for the year ahead then it's ok.

Hope that helps

Thanks we are just coming off the 3 shfit pattern to do this and I was a bit worried, but I don't know anywhere else that offers the money they are offering £27908 per year for the kind of job I do.

Hope it works out well for you. I'm sure you'll enjoy it once you get used to it.
If there's anything else you want to know about them..just ask.

Nick
