Contemporary

Hi Everyone,

According to the DVC boards (i'm not a DVC member - but one day!!!) there may be a DVC resort being added to the Contemporary.

After much agonising, and after finally deciding to go back to the CR rather than try out the Poly, I'm now worried that building works will really spoil the holiday? Does anyone know how long works will go on for and how disruptive they will be etc.

I know that some people who have booked for AKL have been upgraded to a different hotel becuase of building works????

Theres some sort of construction work going on at the contemporary. Or at least there was the first week of this month. Just after you come out of the hotel on the monorail, on the way to MK whatever was there has been flattened and is a building site.

Was it apartments that were there? I cant remember.

I think it was North Wing of Resort (where we stayed last time!!!)

Theres tons of speculation over on the DVC boards about this and has been for a few years.


If DVC does build at the CR (which we are hoping they will) it wont be for a few years yet, they won't start until AKV are complete in 2009 and there is talk that another resort will be anounced before CR.

So you will be fine unless your planning on 2009

They are however making quite a few changes at the Contemporary - the concourse Grill is closing and the fast food and fun centre is moving up to the concourse level. A new restaurant will open on ground level but may not be open next year. The shops on the concourse level have been altered beyond recognition. It all depends what you liked about the Contemporary - if it was just location you will be fine but if it was the shops and restaurants you may want to check more.
