Contemporary Views in Shades of Green Rooms

Jodi when I made my reservation they asked if I would like a water view for $10. more I said yes and then asked to be near the tower also. We have not gone yet so I do not know if this will be good or not!! Joan

Hi we had a wonderful view of the parking lot.........wonderful you say? How can that be? It was very nice because we had the view of the monorail going in and out of the main building. I have a hard time paying extra for a view when I really am not at WDW to look out the window. I am to busy being in the parks or pool or out of the room doing........it seems that when I am in the room I am zonked out or it is at night. Loved the hotel and would go there again if they offered the rooms at a reasonable rate. I find that the rack rate of the room at 265 would have not been acceptable for me to pay. Call me cheap but for that amount of money..............they had better incude all my meals:) . I am glad to have had the chance to stay at CR and look forward to the new SoG.

This morning I received an email from the AF retiree newsletter stating that rebuit SOG will reopen on December 15, 2003. FYI

I thought that the additional $10 charge for for a 1st floor room. They are the only ones with a patio. All the other rooms have no balcony, just a large sliding door that opens to a metal balcony-type railing.

We were on the 2nd floor with a lagoon/play ground view. We loved being able to watch the water parade every night. The people with the parking lot view were probably able to watch the fireworks. We would go into the parking lot for the MK fireworks and then scurry inside to watch the parade. My mother had a 1st floor handicapped room right near the tower. The walk to the Food N Fun Center was about 30 seconds :). I love the CR and I'm hoping that my mother (a Navy widow) will be able to score another stay there before the new SOG opens.

Jodi,
In September, we specifically requested and paid for a ground floor, water view room, and it was awesome! We asked to be in the little "T" shaped wing that's out by the water, and we could watch the EWP from our bed! When we go back in November, we are again paying that $10/night extra, but this time, we will request to be near the playground. That way our wild child (7 yo) can play on the playground while mom and dad watch her from the patio.

Just an FYI--when I was there 2 weeks ago, they had the first half of the ground floor hallway closed off w/ one of the "This area is being refurbished for your future enjoyment" signs up. I don't know what for--in fact, I may call the CR today and find out!

It is now. When all of this first started, the additional $10 was for a bay view (to make it like SoG for the pool view). However, that changed. I was told about the change a month ago, but have no way of knowing exactly when the change from "bay view" to "first floor guarantee" went into effect. From what I heard, it was too difficult for Disney to guarantee a bay view and much easier (twice as easy <g>), to guarantee the first floor. That's why the change was done. :)
