Having a hard time deciding between these two. It will be for our first two nights. We are checking in on a Saturday around 4 PM and checking out Monday. Hitting magic kingdom hard on Sunday.

Prices are similar- contemporary about $25 more per night.

For me having my morning coffee on the balcony at CR watching and listening to MK wake up is priceless. I also like benefit to walk home after a parade or fireworks when transportation gets clogged up. I also enjoy the decor of the room at CR too. I like the hustle and bustle of the CR lobby. if going for a quiet respite during the day or bed time then GF would be best. It is so beautiful and peaceful there. I have stayed at both and think I like CR better mainly due to the incredible view of MK from your room. Seeing the castle, space Mtn and the train so close is special. Really though both are great so stay at one and visit the other and all good!

For me it would be the Grand Floridian, I just love everything about it.

The lobby, the music, the beautiful flowers, even the smell. While the view at the Contemporary is nice, it is still a parking lot view with the Magic Kingdom behind it.

Plus the decor there does nothing for me personally.

would also go with CR - first walking back and forth to the MK is a must on your schedule.

gf has only the monorail or a little boat to get back and forth to the MK.

walking is much better.

Thanks for the response. How is the pool area at the contemporary? Hmmm

We have teen b & g so for family trip we like BLT villas. I like the CR pool area so much I would walk over from BLT. Last Nov. I spent very afternoon in the hot tub at CR. it is hard to describe so look at pics but when sitting in the tub the view is so pretty. The water jets that come up surrounding the tub are fun. The smaller pool that is adjacent/overhangs the lake had such warm water in Nov it felt like a bath. No one uses it either so often I was alone! :confused3. There is food and drinks available poolside and it never is as crowded there as at Poly or GF. You can watch boats and monorail from pool so you feel in the middle of everything too. It has a modern crisp look with palm trees and space so I find the area very inviting. I have been on lots of water slides but not this one. Yep at my age I still like them! I have tried BLT, GF and Poly slides but my fav so far is CSR slide. I made my parents at age 70 go on and they loved it too! Life too short to worry if people think you to old for fun!

Anyways to swim, layout, hot tub it, or just sit in the sand the CR is just so less crowded than other deluxe resorts. I don't care as much for the theme pools at poly and GF now my kids big. They are just too crowded! I like GF courtyard pool because it was large and had hot tub there too. Also it has just been refurbished and due to open any day now so that would be a good option as well.
Well hope that helps! Happy deciding. I stayed at BLT 11/12, GF 5/12 and will be at Poly 4/13 so I am a monorail fan.

We did CR theme park view and it was amazing. I've never stayed at GF but I would go back to CR with that view in a second. I hope everyone gets to do it once.

picture from one of the furthermost MK facing balconies @ The CR:goodvibes. Amazing to be able to watch FW from balcony in your PJs then hop into bed at the end of a long day.

we've since had even closer (but more sideways) views @ BLT but there is nothing that compares to being immersed in disney imo that staying in one of the MK view tower rooms.:thumbsup2

We've stayed at the GF (which is a great resort) and will be trying the CR for the first time in December. The CR is great as it's just a 5-10 minute walk from MK, but the GF is just 1 monorail stop away (although it does take longer to get back to the GF from MK). With that said, I don't think you can go wrong with either one. I would look at pics of both and choose the one that the theme/decor appeals to you the most. Good luck.
