We want to upgrade and we really want a monorail resort... The only thing available is Contemporary..... We cannot afford the tower rooms so we were thinking maybe the garden wing... I have just heard so many bad things about this resort...

BTW, my DS (4) absolutely loves the monorail.

:wave2: I'm one! I LOVE the Contemporary. Yeah, it doesn't have the best pool of all, yeah, it's one of the oldest resort, but I still LOVE this resort.

I love the location. I love the monorail going through it. I love the restaurants. I love that you can WALK to MK. I love that the reosrt feels like the center, the heart of Disney. I just can't explain it. I love the views.

I've stayed in the North wing (pretty close to the elevator) and it was nice but I do much prefer the Tower. I would, though, stay in the North wing again if that was all I could afford. I would just make my request as close to the elevator/main building as possible because those wings can be quite LONG.

Good luck!

If you do a search, you'll find that there's lots of love for the old timer: for the location, its restaurants, transportation and recreation options. It's not warm, inviting, or cozy, but you really do like you've entered the capital city of Disney World (which is precisely why so many dislike it; most capitals aren't attractive, even though that's where all the action is).

We felt the same way last fall. It was a spur of the moment trip for MNSSHP and CR was all that was available. What a pleasant surprise! We found the rooms to be huge and nice ( we were prepared to hate the colors, but ended up loving it) You can't beat the convenience to MK and we spent more time there on this trip than any other. I liked the pool; it was relaxing. I think your DS will LOVE it. We stayed in the tower, but I would stay in the wings on a future trip. Our DS was only 2, but he thought the colors and the furniture were great. Part of the fun was just watching his face when the monorail would come through. I hope this helps!

I Love it! Even though if I'm @ WDW I need to be staying here to let the magic of disney sink in. Nothing beats waking up in the morning and drinkin a cup of coffee looking at thte castle from your balcony.

Location, location, location!!

We love the Contemporary - we have stayed in both the Tower & the South Garden Wiing. The rooms are identical except for the little extra sink in the bathroom. The MK balcony view is wonderful, but we liked the wings too. We had a car when we stayed there & the convenience of the parking was great.

I know the pool area looks a little outdated, but my kids (tweens at the time) really like the slide & the hot tub area that's right by the main pool.

Great restaurants, great shops, the MONORAIL! Oh yeah - & location!

My kids loved the CR when we stayed there a few years ago, and we will be going back next April. We also don't spend the money for a tower room, and stay in the garden wing. The kids loved the pool, may not be the fanciest, but kids don't care about things like that. They just like the pool. From our garden room, we could sit on the patio and watch the boats on the lake. We really liked the place and can't wait to go back.

I can't speak to the wing rooms as we've never stayed in one, but the resort is Excellent! Go--Enjoy!

We are firm believers that everyone should try every resort :teeth: .

So with that mentality, we reserved a North Wing room a couple of years back. I was prepared to not like it at all. The hotel surprised us both-we both really liked it. We got a lake front room, loved looking at the water.
The room had strange decor, but somehow, it worked!

I think what we loved most was that Walt designed the hotel (unless that is an urban legend :confused3 ) and it just felt so "Disney".

We love the Contemporary!

Says it all! :cool1:

Just returned from our first stay at CR and all I can say is WOW!! We had the best time. We ended up getting 12th floor MK view and the view from our balcony was awesome. The staff was great the resort very nice. By the way about the pool, the slide is excellent!! Can't go wrong with a CR stay.

stayed at CR tower this past June.
went in with all itention of not liking it due to all the posts here

we loved it!!!!!!!!!!!

colors were just fine in room which btw was extremely large.
feel like you could put two rooms at WL in one tower room

there is nothing, and I say nothing that will ever outbeat opening your curtains and seeing the MK ..day or night

sitting on your balcony and watching the boats on the water or the monorail zooming by.

It is priceless

okay, yes, the theming in and around the pool is totally inadeaquate and should of been updated many many years ago, but you live with it.

I say GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!!

you will not be disappointed

I love the place. While we haven't stayed there in awhile, we always had a great experience there. My husband was thinking of going to a trade convention happening in August because the rate for the Contemporary was so cheap. Unfortunately, we were too late. By the time I was ready to book the over flow went passed the Poly and into Prt Orlean Riverside, same rate which was much of a break. So, we will stick with our December plans.

We LOVED the CR! Satyed int the N Wing, had a free upgrade offered for lakeview, but we opted to stay with parking lot view as we could see the Castle, Space Mtn and the monorails going by and the fireworks! I think we were room 7031 could be way off tho. Anyway, my only thoughts were that there are no windows in the food court area, I love the sun, and that the grounds do not have palm trees. Other than that, FANTASTIC! The rooms are HUGE, and you can't beat the seperate toilet room. Tons of cabinet and counter space, WALK to MK! Some think the decor is garish...we enjoyed it, but then my favorite cartoon as a kid was the Jetson's. :teeth: When we stayed our kids were 10 and 5. We did a solit starting at ASMU for 3 nights(also loved it there) and then we were on the monorail riding from Epcot and as we were passing by the CR, our DS (5) commented about "how cool" it was that the monorail went right thru that building. DH and I couldn't keep our secret any longer...we told the kids right then and there that we were going to be moving to that hotel the next day. They went NUTS! My kids were pleased as punch to sit on the patio and guess which color monorail was coming next, feed the ducks from their hands, they were lucky enough to get the front of the monorail twice, endless slurpee's in their re-fillable mugs.....we would love to try the Poly, but if it is not in our budget, we will do a split again, this time Pop/Poly ot POP/CR....WE JUSTLOVED IT!! Do a search of my user name, you will find my posts raving about the CR!

Love it! Of all the deluxes we have stayed at we have returned there the most. I adore the location, right in the thick of things and love the room size and even the decor. We're going back in October, right now we're booked there again, maybe we'll get an updated room, they look really neat!

???"ended up getting 12th floor"? That's the conciege club floor. Isn't that what you reserved? or were you upgraded?

Were at CR 8 yrs ago and loved it there. Are going back there again in November. We think it is very convenient for short stays like ours - 5 days/4 nights. Don't have the time to wait for buses to take you to parks which I understand you end up doing at some of the other resorts.

I am hoping though, that we get one of the newly refurbished rooms.

We also love the CR! We were in the South Wing for 10 days in May of last year and had a great time. We had a Jr. Suite with a huge patio outside of the living area as well as the bedroom. It was so relaxing to have coffee and feed the squirrels every morning. It was also convenient to have a 2nd shower, esp. when rushing to get ready for dinner. Although many people say that the CR lacks theming, it feels very 'Disney' to me :flower:

We'll be staying in a Tower room this September and I'm so excited to be returning! :earsgirl:

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the contemporary!!!!! My best trips have been at the Contemporary in a standard view wing room (I love sitting on my patio and watching the fireworks!!! :lovestruc )

On my last trip I called the front desk b/c someone had been smoking in our non-smoking room....they offered to upgrade me to the 7 floor on the tower....nope....I just wanted some sanitizer...I LOVE the wings. I know the staff thought I was crazy but my 2 year old LOVED the patio and he played outside every night...I wouldn't have had that with the tower.

We loved our stay in the North Wing. The rooms are huge and the 10 minute walk to MK is the best. Get a ground level room so you have a patio. The upper level wing rooms do not have balconies.
