Does anyone know if there are smoking rooms in the North
garden wing or are the smoking garden rooms all in the South wing?

No, there are NO smoking rooms in the North Wing. Only on select floors of the South Wing.

Since North wing is now for SOG, do you think they will make more rooms in the South wing non-smoking-sure hope so altho it is one thing to designate a room as non-smoking and quite another to not have it smell like smoke.

I don't think they are going to take the whole wing and say "oh, no you cant stay here. you are paying full price." I think you will have priority if you are paying more (I hope!)....if you have to have a non smoking room they better give it to you. Let them know at CRO for what reason you need it and it has to be CONFIRMED. Its pritty hard for a hotel to make a room that has been smoking for 30 years into a non smoking room. I doubt they will change them over. But knowing Disney's idea of "smoking optional" which really is just a fancy name for a smoking room...(hey, who says you HAVE TO SMOKE right? So its an option!). They will try to take the smell out with one of those machines and then spray some perfume in the room but im my opinion...it doesnt work.

This is part of the reason we went ahead and booked a tower room instead of a standard garden wing room as soon as we could get a rate that didn't make us faint. I really didn't want to be in a former smoking room, but I can't cry illness or allergy, I just don't like it, so knew they wouldn't guarantee me non-smoking. I saw a map that showed the 1st and 3rd floors of the south wing as smoking. Those odds weren't good enough for me.

Thanks for your responses and the additional information. I'm beginning to get a little worried though. I made our reservations back in January before I knew anything about SOG in the North Garden Wing. The CRO never mentioned anything about this as well. I requested the north wing because I am highly allergic to smoke and have been since I was a child. Now it seems that the north wing may not be available ( since I'm not SOG) and with only one floor in the south wing being non-smoking .... it's not looking to good. Do I wait until check-in in August and hope for the best?

I have read that if you can convince them that you have a medical condition which requires you to be in a non-smoking room you can get guaranteed non-smoking. Not sure how much convincing or proof it takes to get that.
