:Pinkbounc We are heading for the Contemporary soon and want to send in a room request 4 days before we go. Does anyone have any suggestions. We have a garden wing room booked and I have read that the ones nearest the water are a far walk from the main building. We have 3 kids- 4 yr, 7 yr, and 13 yr and dont know if we want to be that far away. Should we request a room closer to the main building and are the rooms all the same in the wings?:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

We have a 4 year old DD. IMO, the walk was not too bad unless you need to run back and forth for drink refills and food. Being away from the Tower made us feel more secluded. Depends on your preference and others might think differently.

Since Garden rooms do not have a balcony, we like the ground floor with the patio. For the Garden view rooms, we like the end of the wing facing the bay. Beautiful sunrise in the morning, view of the bay, and great viewing of the EWP at night. Downside is the longer walk to the Tower and if you do not want to see EWP, you are still going to hear it!!!

Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for your ideas. That sounds nice being able to see the parade from your room. I was thinking mainly of the monorail being so far away, but I guess the walk over to the MK might be the better choice. Thanks again.:earsboy:

We are staying there this July for the first time and have read that the North Wing is the SOG location, so I'm assuming we'll be in the South Wing. I hear that the South Wing is the smoking building with the second floor being non-smoking. I hope this is not too awlful. With allegies this could make for a sickly vacation should my allegies act up. I will be packing my zyrtec just in case. I do have a "guaranteed non-smoking room" so am assuming I'll be on the second floor, unless they have room at the North Building. Or maybe I'll luck out and get upgraded to the tower.

I didnt realize that the North Wing was SOG location. Do they hold the whole building for that or only part of it? I was hoping to get in the North Wing because it is closer to MK (isnt it?) and because it is all nonsmoking. Cant stand that smoke either and I dont have allergies. Hopefully we can both get in the North Wing or I'm with you- an upgrade to the tower would be awsome, but I dont know the probablity of that one. :bounce: :bounce:

Yes I read a thread earlier that pretty much the whole north wing is designated for SOG. And since SOG has a waiting list, I'm sure there won't be many vacancies. I'm still hoping for the best. I was bummed when I read that too, because NW is closest to MK. Let me know how it turns out for you, so I know what to expect since you're going first.

As a frequent SoG guest, I can tell you that although the North Garden Wing at the CR is being leased by SoG- I'm not too sure if they've leased ALL of the rooms.
Before renovation, the original SoG had 289 rooms. I believe that they only leased the same number of rooms. Not that they leased a certain location in the North Garden Wing, just that number of rooms.
So if the North Garden Wing's room total is higher than 289- there would be rooms available for Disney guests.

I hope that this information helps all of you!!
