I was wondering what everyones thoughts were on the Contemporary, and what I can expect? It is myself and my fiance and we are staying in the Garden wings. I have heard bad as well as good so I figured I would try this out.:hyper:

I'm staying in the Garden Wings this June for the second time. You'll have a great time. The CR has the largest standard rooms on property, has numerous transportation options (you can walk to the MK, monorail to the MK, monorail to Epcot), fantastic restaurants (the California Grill), and a great big-city, in-the-center-of-it-all ambience.

Nothing to worry about. You will enjoy your visit. The CR staff is great! The rooms are generally larger than the other deluxe hotels. More drawer space than I have seen in any other deluxe. We find the garden wings and the bay quiet and peaceful.

Some do no like walk to the main building but to us, it is no longer than a stroll from a room on the end of the Lodge or AK to the bus. The room decor is not traditional but you will get used to it.

It is the first stop after MK on the monorail so you can usually get a seat. And if you do not want to stand in line at the end of a MK evening for the monorail, you have just a 10 minute walk back. Try taking a boat from CR to the Lodge then the large boat to MK. It is a relaxing way to make your journey to the park

Hope you have a great trip!

I stayed in the garden rooms twice (N. Garden wing to be precise), both times in 2003. The rooms are very large, and some have a great view of the lake; some even have a view of the MK (we could see Space Mtn and the fireworks from one of the rooms). It is a bit of a hike to the tower if you are far out in the wing, but not terrible. You are very close to the path to MK if you are in the N Garden wing- about a 7-8 minute walk and you are at the front gate! The contemporary has great dining and shopping! If you are unable to eat at the Cal. Grill at least go up there and have a cocktail in the evening and take in the sights. Beautiful. I think the shops are the best of any deluxe resort- huge variety! The theming is a bit futuristic and sterile, but fun and has everything you need. It's also fun to take the boat to the Wilderness Lodge for a meal or just to check it out; and the monorail is great to get to the GF or Poly for a meal and a fun way to get to Epcot. I hated taking the monorail to the MK though- 3 stops and it just seems to take a long time...walk instead, but take the monorail back; the CR is the first stop!

So, what's the difference between the standard view and the garden view? Location or just view?

I think the standard view rooms face the parking lot (for the wings). I've looked at a map and some photos of the CR and see the rooms that would have a parking lot view. I've not stayed there but have it booked for August!

I believe the standard view rooms are the ones that overlook the parking lot. The garden ones are towards the middle.

We stayed in the north wing 2 years ago and had a wonderful time! The rooms are large and bright. We were on the 2nd floor about 1/2 way down and could see the fireworks from our window. The north wing is also closest to the bus stop.
