Can anyone tell me the difference of points to be used between the Contemporary resort and the Bay Lake towers? Can you even buy points for the Contemporary? Any help would be appreciated.

I don't believe you can buy points for the Contemporary that's why they built the Bay Lake Towers, it's the DVC part of the resort. I believe you can use points to stay at the Contemporary but it would be much less points just to stay at BLT. From what I've read, using points to stay at the non-DVC resorts is not the best use of points.

DVC members will not be able to use their points at the contemporary now that there is a DVC resort there. Just like we can't use our points to stay at the BW Inn.

When a DVC resort is attached to a Disney resort, members are not able to use points to resort the non-DVC portion of the resort. For example, DVC points may only be used at VWL, not WL.

We can still use points (though an outrageous amount) to book at CR. Once BLT opens, you will no longer be able to book stays on points at CR - only BLT.

I believe they stopped taking reservations for stays at the CR using points earlier this month in anticipation of BLT opening in August.
