Okay, Im going to go back and read the CR FAQ board, but I didn't really see what I was looking for last time I checked.

I have never stayed at this, or any Delux resort. I just changed my ressie to switch to this resort our final 3 days, with the first 6 at POFQ. I do LOVE POFQ, but wanted to sample a delux.

I have paid for a standard Wing Room
Can I request which wing I want?
I read somewhere that its best to be above the 9th floor and I think UG said to avoid rooms ending in 50-88- which seems like a LOT of rooms to me!

What kind of view can I expect?
With inner hallways rather than exterior doors to rooms is sound a problem?
Where is the food court in relation to rooms?
Its just myself and my husband, but Im not a fan of walking 2 miles to get to a pool/food/bus - What would be a good room location for us?

For some reason I cant seem to get a good feel for what its like to stay in this resort. I have eaten at CG and done some of the Sammy Duvall stuff (but wont be this time) so I have seen the lobby a little.

Got tips on using the Monorail?

Thanks for anything you can offer!

I cant wait to go!!!! :cheer2:

The wings are only 3 stories tall, so you can't be above the 9th floor in a wing room.

In either wing, you can request to be close to the tower so you don't have that long of a walk to the pool, monorail, etc.
The food court (actually more like a snack bar) is in the tower building too.

Noise was never a problem for us.

Some of the wing views are really nice. You either view the parking lot (which means you may also see the MK) or the interior courtyards of the resort or the lake.

We LOVE the CR and are staying there again in June. The best thing is being able to walk to the MK and watch the fireworks from the hotel.

Oh Sharon- Thanks!

So I should ask for a room close to the tower?

ALso- no food court like the Mods and Values have???? You mentioned mostly snacks, they dont offer stuff like cheeseburgers, pizza, steak&cheese, roasted chicken? You know, typcial dinner stuff at food courts.

Any special tips anyone can offer?

Like I found out that I can get a chocolate statue of Mickey in top hat with 6 tuxedo strawberries either delivered to him while at dinner at CG or to the room at CR.

Anybody any other cool tips?

Check out what the fast food spot at the CR serves on this website: http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menus.htm Scroll down until you get to the Contemporary Resort and it lists all the eating places there and their menus. The fast food spot at the CR has burgers and stuff but not as extensive of a menu as POFQ because you have SO many other choices for places to eat at the CR and you can take the monorail to other resorts and eat at their places. Or walk to the MK to grab something too.

Another tip- the wing rooms don't have balconies, but the first floor wing rooms have patios with two chairs and a table, so if you would want that, you can request first floor. I think it's also easier to stay on the first floor in those buildings, don't have to deal with the elevator or stairs or anything. The food court area does have some hot food selections, like burgers and hot dogs and chicken strips, I think pizza too. But it's not like the food courts in the values and moderates, with the different stations with different kinds of food, like in a mall. It's just one station where you can order from one menu. The North wing is closer to the food court, and the South wing is closer to the pools.

We were at CR for Hurricane Charley last August. We just love this resort. Dd has fallen in love with it completely. We did eat at their food court. It isn't big but it does the job.
As far as which wing....we were in the North wing, facing Bay Lake with a view of the playground area. It was quite lovely. We were relatively close to the Tower bldg. And we were really close to the pathway to MK!!! You could probably ask for a North Wing room, closer to the Tower. We were on the ground level and it was terrific. Have a ball...this is a great spot.

Ground floor, huh? I hadn't thought of that. And no balconies- good to know.

Are the views any good in these buildings on the upper floors? Im just wondering if a askd for ground floor if I am missing anything up above. :) So if I have a ground floor I can walk right our my sliding glass door to head to MK- yes??

We didn't have any great views, just grassy area and shrubery. It was quiet though and we saw several armadillos each morning. I wouldn't suggest walking out your sliding door to the MK since you cannot lock it from the outside. The Cont is my kids' very favorite resort.

Eyore4Ever149,

I'm envious of your trip. As you can see from our signature, my family loves to stay at the CR.

- The wings are the North wing and the South wing.

- The south wing is closer to the pools, the north wing is closer to MK and the food court/arcade.

- We like to stay in the North wing because if you get the MK view, you can see wishes from the room.

Tips for the Monorail.

- The CR is the stop after MK, so if you have a PS there, make sure you leave enough time as it will need to travel to the TTTC, Poly, GF, then MK. My rule is an hour. Which allows 1/2 hour for Monorail ride and 15 minutes to CRT with 15 minutes to spare.

- If you have a stroller or someone with disabilities, you can take an elavator to the Monorail platform. Once you see the escalators to the Monorail, turn around 180 degrees and the elevator will be on the wall opposite of you.

- When the gate is opened, many people shoot left and only shortly to the right. If you travel down the towards the right end (the back) of the Monorail there are usually many empty cars available also helpful if you have a stroller. Remember the Train did pick up at MK, put it also dropped off.

-They will clear the designated car if you have a wheelchair in your party.

- You can also get great pics of the CR from the platform.

-If you do stay in the North wing MK view, when watching wishes turn on the t.v. and scan in the low 20's. Wishes music is played while the fireworks show is on at MK.

-If you don't get the MK view, call the service and find out what times the electrical water pageant is happening. You'll be able to see that from your room if you have the bay lake view.

Another elevator people don't seem to pay attention to often is on the wall opposite the 3 elevators. It's in the corner by itself.

If I think of anything else, I'll let you know...

Have fun!!!!!

If you end up getting a garden view instead of a standard, some of the best room views in my opinion are from the wing rooms directly facing the lake. I had one of these, ground floor, and the view was nothing but lake and the trees beyond, very beautiful. And the ducks come walking right up to the patios of those rooms hoping to get fed. The sliding glass doors of those rooms lead right out to the sandy beach and lake, pretty nice.

I'm so glad to see you post this!! I keep reading in guide books, and even discussion forums like this, that ground level is great as you can walk out your sliders to the pool...or the beach...etc. And all I kept thinking is, gee, I hope at least 1 of your party is back in the room or else you've just left the room vulnerable for people to walk in and take stuff!

Well Im glad I came back to catch up on reading. I was having a bit of a panic last night. I dont know where to look for photos of the wing rooms. But after reading it seems like the wings are really dragged through the mud.

Is it worth it to switch for just 2 nights?? We check in May 2 at PO FQ, then move to CR on May 8 and we leave May 10- is the whole packing-moving-packing this a pain in the patootie?

I have stayed ath CBR and POFQ and loved the rooms and themeing there- will I be disappointed with CR wing room?
Can you actually see the castle from the rooms that face the parking lot??

If you are on an upper floor of a wing, to get to the Monorail, do I have to take stairs/elevator down, then walk over to main bldg, then take escalator up to get to Monorail?

Im really rethinking my ressie at this resort.....and asking myself why do I want to stay here????

POFQ has the best bussing system, ferry to DTD, great theme, fun theme pool area, great view of Sassagoula River.

I cant afford $280 a night for a Tower Room, so if I dont stay at CR Wing, then odds are I will just stay at POFQ. Maaaaybe I would try to go over to BWI, but I dont know.

Eeyore, We did a split stay in October, two nights at WL followed by two nights at the Poly. If you are driving, it may be worth it to pack seperately for both hotels. We did this because our Poly stay was also the night we had the Halloween party tickets. This way we didn't have to haul princess costumes in, then back out, then back in again. I also split up our snacks to take in, this gets to be a bit much to haul it all into both hotels. That was the first time I was actually glad DH insistede on his F150 as opposed to my small Mercedes sedan :) We had plent of room for luggage. The CR garden wing rooms are great, very spacious, day beds are great for kids/tweens. My kids fight for the daybed. Our last visit to the CR I requested a 1st floor room and really liked having the patio, it was great to go to the pool via the sliding door, leaving DH in the room to chill out. Enjoy your stay!

We stayed in the North wing last August (facing MK). I'll see if I can dig up any photos and pm you. I'l pm you either way to let you know if I found any or not.

As for the comment on the wings, this is simply not true. The wing rooms are wonderful. Very spacious, 2 sinks, commode in a separate room. The hallway rug is matted a bit but that is it.

That I can't answer. I've never split stayed.

I referenced this in my original response. You can see the castle and wishes at night if you are in the room. You can also turn the t.v. on and the wishes music is pumped in.

Yes, but honestly, how else would you get down from the third floor. Dont' jump! :rotfl:

Again, this is subjective. But, If you don't have the desire though, then why do it?

Here's a great site for pictures of the CR. I heard the wing rooms are identical to the tower rooms so if you see one it's the same as the other. Enjoy!. By the way, we are going to the CR this May. I can't wait !!!! :earsboy:

go to

suite
disney
.com

and look up the pics. disboards won't allow me to post their site :confused3

Thank you, I am familiar with the site, but they didn't have what I was looking for- I did find a few pics on Allearsnet, but nothing of the view from the rooms.

I dont have kids and I am flying in, so my options are limited and I am not one to pack a seperate bag- I often use pieces through out my stay. But maybe it will be a good tip for someone who is, and I am always happy to share my thread- as long as its not totally hijacked. LOL!

The CR is a FAB resort! Although we prefer the tower (have never stayed in the wings), I would definitely not be opposed to staying in the wings. We just LOVE this resort...irregardless of the room location.

It has such a special & unique "MAGICAL" feel to it...which you will undoubtedly FEEL during your visit. :goodvibes Have a great time, and make lots of memories. The only negative thing about staying at the CR (especially at the end of your stay)...will be the difficulty you experience returning to the POFQ in the future!! ::yes::

Enjoy!! :wizard: :cool1: :flower: :cloud9:
