We were at a AAA Disney seminar last night (which was really dissappointing). There were two Disney resort reps there. We talked to them (a man named Jay and a woman named ??) and we asked about the CR rehab. They told us that the rehab has been ongoing and that they have worked on it in sections. They also told us that the rehab was scheduled to be finished by June as they really wanted it done for peak season. We asked about the game room and they said they are keeping it but will be making changes and updating it with new games. They didn't mention moving it and we got off the conversation at that point.

Made our CR Tower ressies today (were making them regardless of rehab but it will be nice if the above holds true)!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Thanks for sharing the information!

I was thinking of going to that AAA thing even though we have our reservations already. It wasn't that good though? What did they go over? Did you get any videos from them or anything?

So when are they closing down the Concourse Steakhouse and moving Food Court there. From the DIS January newsletter, it sounded like they were redoing the lobby in a different color scheme as well as the rooms. Can all this be done by June without shutting it completely down? Will the place be a complete mess when I'm there in March?

They mostly went over Disneyland because of the 50th anniversary. They talked about AAA memberships (the guy in charge of that gave me two different answers to a question in the same sentence). They showed a short slide show.

No videos. All we got was a bag with with brochures that you could get from any of their offices. And a AAA pen. The agent I talked to didn't even know the info from their brochures!

They had an imagineer there and she was drawing characters all night. They gave three away in a drawing along with a snowglobe and some AAA goodie bags. You could get a character drawing if you put down a deposit on a package. They were waving the booking fees for that night.

The imagineer also gave a small talk which was probably the most interesting part but still not worth the drive and time. At least the kids had fun in the room they had set up for them watching Disney movies, coloring Disney pages and eating ice cream and chocolate milk. :D

We only talked about what I mentioned above. I would think that if they were doing things in sections, they would not be doing the lobby and the food court move at the same time. Have you tried calling the CR directly? I was going to do that but the reps assured me everything should be done by the time we go in October. I probably will stil call at some point anyway.

We stayed for a week in Sept, and there was no evidance of any kind of rehab. Anybody with later stays see any evidance?

I just wanted to add that I do have a AAA membership. I used it to get a room only discount for our trip. I was just dissappointed in their lack of information/knowledge.

I guess I was hoping to learn something new but, honestly, I think anything I need/want to know can be found on the Dis!!

Thanks for the info! I was hoping someone would have a little more info than what the January Newsletter stated. Hopefully all is complete for your upcoming trip.

Still I wonder and may have to call the CR to check on the progress before we decide where we are going to stay. We'll be going in either May or July and I hope all is calm rehab wise at that time, but who knows!

Thanks again!

We have a Tower room booked at the CR for September. If major rehab is going on will they book us into another resort or just expect us to put up with it?

Any info much appreciated.

We were there last August(In between hurricanes). We talked to a couple who was staying in Concierge in the CR. They said they were doing work on the plumbing system, etc. There was a water main break at that time, but I don't know if this what part of a overhaul.

Nope, it wasn't. We were on the 14th floor in Sept and no renovation was taking place. Plus, there was a water main break in August.

Kimberle,

Some confusion here.
I mentioned the water main break in my op. We were staying at the CR as well, but not in the concierge. My question was whether the water main break was caused by plumbing overhaul or it happened on its own. Interesting that you didn't see anything in September, but we've noticed that it does not always take Disney very long to finish up work and look like nothing was ever worked on. This darn rehab rumor is such a mystery to everyone. Too bad we don't have a CR CM readily available.

I don't know how much people even a CR CM would be - they were still saying that CR would be part of DVC.

If they are during what the newletters suggest -then this will be a BIG rehab and very noticeable.

I mean changing everything to wood - is going to make a BIG impression.

OK, I called the CR and was told that they had not been informed of any rehab at all but reservations would know for sure. They put me through to reservations and the CM told me there was nothing listed on his screen (and it would be, according to him). He put me on hold and went to check other resources and came back with a list of renovations/changes from January 3, 2005 - December 16, 2005. There was NOTHING for the CR on it. That's not to say it won't change but that's what he had.

Sorry for the wrong info. Those were Disney resort reps we talked to and we were talking about the CR. We all said the name and even talked about the tower. I cannot believe that not one person there that I talked to that night could give me the right answers on my questions. :sad2:

Maybe they are scheduling it for next year?

I think I'm going to call each month and check. We love the CR but don't want to stay in a construction zone. Or maybe we'll split our stay. DH was talking about maybe staying a few days at the WL or BW anyway.

I just noticed that the Jan. DIS newsletter, where the CR Rehab was "announced," is no longer at the top of the DIS boards. If I remember correctly the article mentioned Eisner's involvement, but didn't give any dates at all, except to say that Eisner wanted it done in 1 year instead of 3 years. The article also said that the Food Court and Concourse Steakhouse were going to switch places. Since Eisner's job is up in the air, and a rehab takes several months, if not years, to go from paper to actual construction, I'm guessing it's a dead issue for the moment.
