Just back from our first trip home. :cool1:

I was very disappointed to read the thread about the Contemporary possibly being renovated and not turned into DVC

I couldn't wait to post pics of what appears to be a fence going up around the north wing.

hope springs eternal in the hearts of future owners of CRV:banana:

plan on interrogating the staff next week;) ...they will talk-lol

A fence suggest demolition, not renovation. Don't you think?

I wish they would just announce it already!! :rolleyes2

supposedly, there's a press conf. scheduled for the 18th...didn't see it listed on Disney stockholder site; usually upcoming ones are listed.

Here's another of the Grand Concourse facing the north wing (sorry it's a little dark). In our still-hopeful eyes, it looks like they are preparing for the walkway to the new DVC building.

It is the North Wing. Facing the back of the Contemporary (from Bay Lake), it is on the right.

No, the fence suggests construction of some sort. From the pics it appears to be no more than a typical silt fence, set up to keep trash and debris out of Bay Lake. It could mean that the North Wing will undergo some sort of exterior work. :confused3

IMHO, if the North Wing is to be demolished a much higher and more substantial barrier would be going up.

Construction is my business and that's just my 2 cents. YMMV :)

The Oct 18 press event is in NYC. From bits and pieces of info scattered across the net, it will primarily deal with YOMD. Besides, has Dis ever called a press conference for a new DVC announcement? EP and SSR were both made public with a simple press release. :listen:

I dunno?:confused3

honestly, don't know if DVC is a sep entity or under the Disney stock umbrella?

I guess we'll all know soon. If the building is completely demolished - DVC is a sure thing. If the building is not demolished - then it's only a rehab.

Does anyone remember whether the South Wing was fenced off when the rehab was going on? I was there during renovation and can't remember.

We stayed in the North Wing at the same time as the South Wing was undergoing renovations. (And the North Wing was in BAD shape!) There actually were people still staying in the South Wing and we walked through it. I don't remember if there was a fence or not, but it obviously didn't go all the way around because the South Wing was still occupied by guests.

There was a fence during the South Garden Wing renovation. The posted pictures of the poles at the North Garden Wing look similar to the initial fence construction at the South Garden Wing,

In August, we were told by a very chatty CM working in a resort very near the CR that they "would not be surprised" to hear about DVC at the CR. They said that the monorail was the only thing that had kept the CR around and that it is the only deluxe that is consistently under-booked. Their comment was that "the CR needs the DVC much more than DVC needs the CR".

The Disney Vacation Club brand and the legal entities that make up Disney Vacation Club — Disney Vacation Club Management Corp., Disney Vacation Development, Inc., DVD Financing, Inc., Buena Vista Trading Company — are all ultimately owned by The Walt Disney Company. So, yes, DVC is "under the Disney stock umbrella."

However, that doesn't mean that Disney will use a YOAMD media event to make a real estate construction announcement. When the time comes to announce the plans for the next DVC resort, DVD Inc. will quietly issue a press release. After all, there won't be anything to sell until 12-24 months later.
