Hi all,

We are doing a split stay 12/20 - 12/28 of 2019. Kids will be 12 and 11

12/23 - 12/28 is BC

I am torn, and currently have a reservation at both, between contemporary and WL for the first part of the stay.

Contemporary is garden wing - standard view.

WL is courtyard view w/bunk beds

WL appeals much more to me in terms of theming and I have always wanted to stay there. Of course, throw in Christmas time and it seems like a no brainer. My concern is the boat to MK at such a busy time vs. the walk from Contemporary.

So do we sacrifice theming and atmosphere for ease of transportation during such a busy time? Or is the WL at Christmas time worth dealing? I should add that the purpose of the split stay was for transportation convenience which is why I originally booked contemporary. But when bunk beds became available at WL I couldn’t help myself and reserved that too. So now I am so torn. And no one in my family is any help. Lol.

Thanks for any feedback! Ultimately I know we will be happy at either.

We stayed at CCV at WL the week before Christmas last year and it was GORGEOUS. The boats were fantastic. We would take whichever boat came first - MK or the boat to CR (and then simply walk over to MK). There is also a bus that is a quick ride to MK. Is it slightly less convenient than CR? Yes. But the Christmas decor and overall feeling of the resort is far and above anything you'll find at CR.

Normally I would always vote for the more convenient place, which would be CR. However, I'm a softie for any holiday and given your dates I would probably go with WL because of the theming at Christmas. I know you'd be giving up the walkway to MK, which is the downer. Did you price out a garden view room at GF just to compare? You'd get great theming like at WL, and also get ease of transportation like at CR (though nothing really compares to walking to parks, but monorail is nice too...).

Another vote for WL. We've never stayed at the CR, but love the WL. It's beautiful any time of year, but especially so at Christmas time. I will say, though, that we choose our resort by theme/decor rather than transportation/convenience, so WL is an easy choice for me as I find it more appealing overall than the CR.

Thanks everyone! Seems unanimous!

As far as pricing out GF, I didn't but I have never considered staying there. Not sure why. I will check it out just in case. But I think I am sold on WL based on your feedback and the obsessive googling I did today.

EDITED - just checked GF and it is about 300 give or take more a night so that eliminates that. I canceled contemporary. WL it is!

We have almost the same trip booked for this year! WL 12/20-12/23, BC 12/23-12/27. I was also torn between WL and CR for the same reason as you, but we needed a 1 BR suite and there was a big cost difference ($400+ per night) between the two...so ultimately the budget won out. I am so happy to read where several PPs have said that the boat service works well, even at Christmas week (I've been worried about that). Fingers crossed it works out!

I must say that we've only stayed at CR once, even though I had booked and canceled many times, because like you I worried about whether I would like the theming and the atmosphere. But then a few years ago we got a ridiculously discounted deal on a 1BR at BLT...and H, D, and I agreed that it was actually our favorite room we'd ever stayed in...it was absolutely incredible! So had it not been for the high additional cost, we would've picked the CR for the first half of this trip too. But like many PPs said, I've actually read that the WL is one of the most beautiful of all the resorts at Christmastime, and since we've never stayed there before (but have been to look around and eat) I am really looking forward to this stay to see if everything I've read is true. :)

We have stayed at both over the years. The CR rooms are huge but WL during the holidays is just the best!
