Contemporary or Polynesian

OK so my fiance and I are going to WDW for out honeymoon this August. We originally booked the Grand Floridian, but we decided against it because we saw what the guest rooms looked like, and they did not mesh with what we like (we are not big fans of the whole floral look).

So we changed our reservations to the Polynesian Resort and realized that they have only two queens in each room. We like the whole island vibe, but the fact that there aren't any one king bed rooms besides the honeymoon suite, which is taken, we had to take a room with two queens.

Now I just saw what the new rooms at the Contemporary look like ... they look really neat with the new remodel. I like the fact that they have rooms with just a king bed and I really like the design of the new rooms the most of any resort. The theme of the rest of the CR is not up to par with the Poly, but the guest rooms seem much better. So now for my question ...

Contemporary or Poly? ... we want to stay at a monorail resort, hence the selection.

Also, have any of you changed your reservations more than 3 times in the course of a week ... I feel like such a goof :confused3

I *ADORE* the Contemporary. We booked the Polynesian for our honeymoon, and we're going to stick with it, but we stayed at the Contemporary in January, and we absolutely loved it. The bed is the most comfortable I've slept in at Disney. The view (if you get a Magic Kingdom view room) is breathtaking. The rooms are stylish, the colors are great, and you get a computer with internet access (free) that you can use for concierge, room, and housekeeping services.

I just thought it was a step above the rest.

If you'd like to see pictures of our room (which is probably what you've seen already in looking at rooms online), let me know.

The Bay Lake view at Contemporary isn't bad either. We were able to see Illuminations, EPCOT lights and MGM in the distance from there. It is one of my favorite places, as the tower is so convenient. Everything inside the building!

Polynesian, Is Beautiful, I've Never Liked Contempory Its The Oldest, And Very Blah, You Can View Mk Fireworks Fr Polynesian Too!!! And There Are Great Restaurants In The Poly!!!
Ohana For Breakfast Or Dinner, Kona Cafe For Breakfast, Then There Is The Luau Dinner Show!

I would say it depends on if you care more about your room's decor or the decor of the hotel.

We're getting married at the Contemporary, but it's never been my favorite for decor in the hotel itself. That being said, the room decor and the view are amazing!!! Especially the MK view... you can watch the Wishes fireworks and then the evening lake light show which is always nice.

While I love the decor at the Polynesian within the lobby and around the hotel, I have to say the rooms were very very outdated, uncomfortable, and not as clean as others I've stayed in.

No matter where you stay, the best part about staying at the MK monorail resorts is that you can easily hop from one hotel to the other. So if you don't like the decor in the Contemporary Hotel itself, hop on over to the Polynesian for a tropical drink or go listen to the live music in the Grand Floridian.

For example, even though my fiance and I didn't stay at the Grand Floridian last time (we stayed at the Boardwalk Villas), we actually spend a TON of time lounging in the lobby area listening to the big band and the piano just because it's one of our favorite places to be and unwind after being in the parks.

I'm sure no matter where you stay it will be awesome... it's Disney afterall!!! :thumbsup2

Kashmir brought up something I forgot to mention.

The best part about the room was lying in bed, watching the fireworks and being able to just fall asleep afterwards. No rushing to transportation to get to your room (though you could walk as well), no having to deal with masses of people exiting. That had to be the most magical part.

My fiancee and I are also honeymooning at Disney in August. Judging from your signature and picture it looks as though we are around the same age as well (23). For us, the Polynesian is the perfect choice. For one, it has the whole island theme. We also look at GF but it just wasn't us...didn't look like it had the same fun vibe as the Polynesian. As far as the two beds go, that might not be a bad thing.
We've looked at pictures of the Poly, and for us it can't be beat. You can watch fireworks on its beaches and the pool looks amazing. I guess it all depends on what you feel fits you best.
I know that this post is a bit eratic, but its late and I've been studying. Good luck!

We love the Poly! The grounds are so pretty, lush, nice places to hang out on the beach, the pool is nice and there is a quiet pool too! We stayed in the newer buildings and the rooms are quite big, no king but lots of room. We had a standard room and off the balcony had a good view of MK fireworks. Food choices are great too!
this website helped alot with our planning when we stayed there

I'm sure no matter what you will have a magical time!

We're honeymooning in August also (18-23) and staying at the Poly! I do like the CR, but like the overall feeling of the poly. Oh, and I call to change, or inquire about a change, to my reservation almost weekly! :rotfl:
