My future husband and I are torn between two resorts for our honeymoon. Contemporary or Polynesian. It's not until Jan. 2008 and I called Disney yesterday and the lady I talked to was very rude, I have never been disappointed with Disney staff but this time I was. She asked me when it is was and I told her. Then she said that she wouldn't even talk to me and I understand that they don't have prices yet for 2008, but all I wanted was information about the two resorts and she wouldn't even talk to me. Anyway I want everyone else's opinion. I have been to Disney World 7 times but never stayed at a Magic Kingdom resort. Thanks!

I personally think the atmosphere and food at the Poly is wonderful :beach: I would vote for the Poly!

However, if money is an issue, then the Contemporary is great too b/c it's still on the monorail.

I'm sorry the CM was rude to you. Good luck making your decision :)

out of those two def. the Poly. I like the atmosphere a lot more than the contemporary, IMO.

hope you get a nicer CM next time!

I'm am SOOO sorry you had a rude reservations agent! As a former res. agent for WDW, I will fill in where the CM didn't!
First of all, you can't go wrong with either choice...they're both very nice resorts, the rooms are around the same size, they both offer water recreation, concierge service (if you're interested), monorail access, good on-site dining (though the Poly has the better food court IMO) and some rooms have GREAT views!
As a previous poster mentioned, you can get a less expensive rate at the Contemporary if you opt for a room in the Garden Wing. Another plus for the Contemporary is that you have the option to take a short walk to the MK if you don't want to take the monorail. Also, having stayed at both resorts and having MK view-rooms at both, the view at the Contemporary is "closer" - and can be better, in my opinion. One other BIG thing that the res. agent probably wouldn't mention to you (even on a good day) is that the Polynesian does not offer any regular rooms with king-sized beds....this may be important to you. The only way to get a king-sized bed at the Poly is to reserve one of the very expensive suites. As with the other deluxe resorts, you can not be guaranteed a king at the Contemporary, but at least you have a good chance if you request it!
Hope this helps!!!! :thumbsup2

If you go over to the Resorts board, you will get all kinds of useful information about both resorts.

http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=12

There are fan threads for both the Poly and the Contemporary where you can ask questions, and you might even try starting a new thread on Poly vs. Contemporary (although some of the people on that board say they're tired of "Resort A vs. Resort B" threads, the big fans of both resorts will probably be happy to offer opinions!)

Hope this helps! :)

We picked the Poly because we wanted the whole "island" atmosphere. good luck choosing!

Sorry you didn't have much luck with the reservationist....

My new husband and I spent part of our honeymoon at the Poly and loved every second of it! It was very romantic....strolling along the pathways at night was really peaceful after a long hectic day at the parks! Our room was wonderful, even thought we only had 2 queen beds-that just mean more room for storing souvenirs! And you couldn't beat the view....we got to watch Wishes from our balcony at night....

With either resort, you will have a great time!!! :)

We originally decided on the poly(because of the tropical atmosphere). However, recently we changed to the boardwalk because we wanted a really nice room for our comp night. I just found out yesterday that our EP has booked us in one of the garden suites at boardwalk. Of the two, my vote would be for Poly. The contemporary is nice, but not quite my cup of tea.

Wow I am so sorry to hear that someone wasnt friendly... That would upset me... I have stayed at the Poly and I LOVED IT.. I felt like I was in Hawaii:beach: .. I havent stayed at Contemporary yet. but for Honeymoon I say go for the Poly... So romantic

never stayed at either but have wandered around both, i'd stay at the poly (if only i could justify the cost for next time we go!!!)

My DH and I got married at the Poly (Sunset Pointe) and we also disneymooned at the Poly. It was a dream for both of us to stay there, so we went ahead and booked it for our disneymoon. It was beautiful and romantic. The rooms have dim lighting if you want to use it and the view was amazing, we didn't get the castle view, but we could see the wedding pavillion and the seven seas lagoon from our room, it was beautiful. The Poly grounds outside are also amazing. We rode the surrey bicycles, and we rented a little boat and road it around the seven seas lagoon, we attended the Luau Dinner Show, etc.. We also laid in the hammocks at the beach and watched the electric night parade and wishes. The pool is beautiful and the slide is sooo much fun, we didn't get to use it much b/c it was freezing cold outside (November), but we did try it out. I just think this resort has a lot of amazing activites that u and ur hubby could do aside from the parks and restaurants. So our vote definitely goes to the Poly. Hope this helps you out with ur decision making.pixiedust:

We stayed at the contemporary a few years ago. It is a great hotel and I thought the rooms were big. We did stay in one of the wings so it was about a 5 mintue walk from the main building. We would def. stay there again.
For your honeymoon I would not recommend this resort.

I definitely second, third, whatever # we are up to now...for the Poly. As someone else said, there should be a bunch of info over on the Resorts Board on both the Contemp and Poly. Also, wdwig.com has a ton of photos of both resorts, rooms included if you need some ideas, there's also a 'fact sheet' with more info about each.

HTH

Thank you so much! That does help a lot. I called back last night and the person I talked to was from my hometown! I was like talk about a small world and she was really nice. I think we're going to go with the Contemporary! I love the way the newly renovated rooms look. Again thank you for being so helpful!

We split our stay between BWV and the Contemporary Atrium Club (concierge). The Poly is romantic and IMHO better themed than the Contemporary but we live on the gulf coast so a beach/tropical atmosphere wasn't important too us--we have it all the time. We wanted convenience and I think the tower rooms at the Contemporary are the most convient on property. We also wanted a more adult type setting. There were kids at the Contemporary, but each time I've stayed at the Poly, there seems to be more. Also the MK view at the Contemporary can't be beat. It's the closest resort to the MK. Having stayed at both resorts and having stayed on concierge level at both resorts, I don't think you could go wrong with either. It's all a matter of personal taste.

...And, just to put in another good word for the Contemporary, it has the largest rooms, king beds and free Internet access in all the rooms!

I've stayed at both the Poly & Contemporary in both regular and concierge rooms. Romantic feel can't be beat at the Poly but no king beds. The view from the tower is spectacular, nothing like a close up view of the fireworks from your balcony and you can get a king bed. Concierge at both resorts is excellent.

I think you'll enjoy your stay at the Contemporary.
