We are a family of 5 (kids are 8,6 and 3) heading to Disney in March of 2013. When I priced out the trips AoA and Contemporary were about $200 different in price. To me, at Disney $200 is nothing. I'm trying to decide which I would rather do. AoA gives us space but the Contemporary gives us a great location. If this were your decision, which would you go with - space or location?

I would go with AoA because it's new and there aren't many opportunities to stay in a new dis resort. You'll have more space and the largest resort pool. I do agree contemporary is more convenient, but AoA seems very kid friendly and your kids won't be little for long. You'll also have more privacy at night with your own bedroom. 2 baths is also great when getting ready.

agreed - your kids are young enough that they will probably be thrilled to sleep on the furniture - love seat, chair and ottoman...:cool1:

now if your park of choice is the mk and you will spend most of your time here - then CR. if you are planning on spending equal time in all the parks - then AoA

While the CR is beautiful, a monorail resort, and convenient to MK, I would stay AoA. It is new and your kids will love sleeping in an atmosphere with their favorite Disney characters.

Good luck and have fun!

AOA for sure. You can stay at the Contemporary when the kids are older. Right now, they are the perfect ages for AOA!

Have never stayed at AoA but we love the Contemporary. We love walking to MK, having the monorail, and their quick service. Everything is very convenient. If you spend a lot of time at MK, the Contemporary is a great choice, especially when there is a $200 difference between value and deluxe. :)

our kids are 10, 8, and 6 and we went with AOA. It's our first trip but when traveling for more than 1 night, we always get connecting rooms or a suite.

We are looking forward to checking out the nemo pool!

Split stay! Best of both worlds! For us it would be CR for sure because of the location but we LOVE CR!

We decided to go with both!
Arriving at the Contemporary Tower Bay Lake for 3 nights, and transfering over to the Art of Animation Finding Nemo Suite for 2 nights. Everyone should be able to enjoy BOTH WORLDS...... No need to CHOOSE....... And Disney moves you over from One Hotel to the Other

Awesome! Have a great time!

We're booked at CR for three nights in October, I added a room only at the beginning in a Little Mermaid room. Our girls are teenagers and we are past the value resort stage, we like our deluxe properties and all their convenience and amenities. One night cooped up in a value is all my hubby will take, he likes bring able to walk to a park. For that reason AKL old no appeal to him, too isolated.

I vote for LOCATION!!! We have been going with our kids since they were 5, 2 and 1 and we stay on the monorail route. I have thought about other areas, but for us location was always the winner. We also love the deluxe resorts. If you plan on going to the Magic Kingdom a great deal, you will be glad to be on the monorail. AoA sounds like a great place for the kids and i'm sure they would love that resort. I prefer avoiding the bus as much as I can. You just need to decide what works better for your family!

Easy decision -- Contemporary. The newness of AofA will wear off after the first couple times you have to jump on a Disney bus to get anywhere.

I am amazed you got rates that were so close together as Contemporary is a deluxe resort.

Go with the location. How can you beat only needing to jump on the elevator to get to Chef Mickeys and jump on the monorail to get to MK and EPCOT.

Plus you can watch the MK fireworks from your hotel.

All that beats the static statues and decorations of AofA.

With smaller kids and if you plan on spending most if your time at the MK, I would stay at the contemporary. Ultimately only you can decide what is best for your family.

We do the same statement. If we can't afford 200 we can't afford any of it lol.

I'm assuming it's a wing room on the Contemporary? I was unimpressed with these and would pick AoA over that one. (We stayed at AoA a couple weeks ago and had a great trip!)
Although we did have a bus ride from hell. A new driver had the night route- it was about 11:30 and he missed the exit- we ended up on I4 in horrendous traffic. It took us an hour to get back to the hotel.

We never took the bus again. So if you are using disney transportation only I vote Contemporary. If you'll have a car and it's a wing room I vote AoA
