OK all you pros, I could use your help. DH and I are staying at the Cont, North Wing in mid-Dec. We don't have children and would prefer a somewhat quiet location if possible. I have a layout of the hotel and the 7300 area looked somewhat promising and close to the main hotel. Can someone confirm this for me or give other suggestions? Thank You!

I love the North Wing - for me you can't beat the location at that price. With kids I try and request closer to the main building so you may be better off requesting the other end!! If you request a view of the lake you will be at the very end where its quiet and you can see the ELP from your room -very nice. Its a longer walk to the tower but the pool is closer and its quieter.

It depends on your reservation, standard or resort view. If its standard you will have a parking lot view in which case I would request an upper floor. If you have a resort view it will be in the middle of the "C" and you will have a pool or lake view. In this case I request a first floor room so you will have a small patio.

Thanks TJ,

Your information is very helpful.! I have a feeling we will have a parking lot view since our room rate is so low. I will take your advise and request a 3rd story room. Can you tell me about how long it takes to walk to the main building from the farthest north tower rooms? Also, do you know if there is a bus stop near the North tower area? The monorail will come in handy for Epcot but we like to visit Downtown Disney everynight and a close bus stop would be very convenient. Oh, one more question, how long does it take to walk to MK?

We just stayed in the North Wing at the Contemporary. We had rooms 7332 and 7333. We were exactly half way down the corridor toward the water on the third floor. It was fairly quiet but I would recommend staying further down toward the water so not as many people will have to walk by your room to get to the elevators. I would NOT ask for (I think the number is) 8316. It was right by the vending and ice machine. That would not be a very quiet room at all! The end rooms facing the pools on the upper floors actually have balconies. I don't know if they are more expensive or not. I think all the rooms in the north wing are for the military right now and are all the same price depending on the view you select. I'm not sure when in December they will stop having the military in there. (Whenever Shades of Green opens) ;) I think the 8300's would be a good request but I don't have a map of the hotel in front of me. I wish I could help you more. I was chasing 4 kids around so I didn't get much time to check out the good room locations.
Good Luck! I hope you have a wonderful time and don't miss the Sticky Mickey's for Breakfast at the Concourse Steakhouse! I found them on my last day! AARRRGGGHHHH!

We stayed in the contemporary north garden wing last August. We were in room 7384 which was a great room for a great price. It was a parking lot view however, we still could see the monorail going into the resort, cindys castle and the space mountain dome. Yes it was alittle obstructed but hardly and it was so great to open your shades and see such a beautiful view and not pay soo much. It took us less than 5 mins to get to the food and fun center. The room was HUGE and clean and we really enjoyed ourselves- and thats why we are going back this August.

Good Luck with your decision

kimmypar,

Yes, the bus stop is very close to the No. Garden Wing. I would say the walk from the wing to the main bldg is under 5 mins. The walk to MK from the No. Garden Wing is under 15 min. You basically walk out of the wing, thru a small parking lot and the path is right there. Same with the bus stop. Out the bldg, thru small lot and bus stop is right there.

It is a great location for what you need. The longest walk is to the monorail because you have to go thru the main bldg. I can't remember the rooms we stayed in, but they were about mid-way. We did have a first floor room, because I requested that so my DD could walk right over to playground.

Good luck,

Anna

Thanks Anna for the info on the walking distance to buses and MK and thanks to all that replied to my North Wing question. You guys are SO much help!

We've requested and gotten 8136 several times and it is wonderfully quiet.....a long walk but a very nice location.
