I have been wanting to buy into DVC for a while, but I always wanted to wait until they did something on the monorail. Now that it looks like that's the case at the Contemporary, I'm wondering if anyone has any info on when those will be up for sale & how much the points will be going for. Or, if any of you know where I should look for updates, that would be helpful, too.

Thanks!!

Since there has been no official announcement from DVC, any guesses would be pure speculation. I would not wait to purchase DVC simply for anticipating a resort that has not even been announced by them yet. There are many home resorts to choose from at this time and you could always add on at the Contemporary if and when it is announced. Good luck!

Anytime between now and 2060.

I was told by a very reliable source back in January that the official announcement would be in 6-8 months which means anywhere from July to September. Sales won't begin until a few months after the announcement.

I am going to guess. And this is totally a guess.

I am guessing that they will start selling KTR or whatever you want to call it in year 2009.

I spoke with a guide today who absolutely would not confirm. However, when I mentioned a summer time frame "if" a new resort was going to be announced, he said that if a hypothetical resort was going to be announced, it probably wouldn't be announced until later in the year. Even if announced, it would be a few months post announcement before you could buy. He did say that there are usually great incentives to buy pre-opening.

So...based on him, IF Dis announces, it probably won't be until later in 2008 or early 2009, with sales starting sometime in 2009. Take this with a grain of salt, as this was all "what if" scenarios. He also said that SSR is about 90% sold out, so I'm sure that may have some influence on the announcement.

Lastly, this won't be any surprise to anyone, but we talked about the popularity of BC's location, and he said that any resort close to a theme park is going to have a huge draw with a higher price tag.

Take it for what it's worth...;)

We just added points at SSR and of course this topic came up because I would love to have the convience of the mono rail for my family of 5 (DD4 DS2 DS6mos).

They of course will not even confirm that the CR is being built for DVC.
They said if it was for DVC they won't announce anything until they are done selling SSR. I then asked how much longer until SSR is sold out, 3-6 mos so that puts it at SUMMER.

I also learned during closing that there is an easment at SSR resereved for Mono Rail expansion. I then asked when that's going in. Answer: No plans at this time.

I'm sure you enjoy 2BR's but also knowing you can put 5 in a 1BR if you want is a nice feeling as well.

Kingdom Towers at the Contemporary has been "cleared" to sell any time they want according to the papers that were recently submitted to the powers that be in the Florida government. Speculation is that an official announcement will be in May. Sales however probably won't begin until next year. :sad2:

I'm excited my DH says it ok to purchase enough pts to stay every 3rd year, as long as I have the money. Hopefully they don't start selling till later in the year or beginning of 2009. I should have enough saved by then.

Disney's theory, why announce a new dvc resort when they're still trying to sell on the older resorts. Especially AKLV that just came about last year. They don't want people to wait, they want them to buy into it now.
DVC announced plans for a resort in Hawaii before any ground was dug up, so the fact that they aren't finished yet has nothing to do with it.

I am sure that KTV will happen in 2009(I am praying it is not another Eagle Pines)...although I hope they change the name. I am wondering if there will be a presale. It seems that DVC feels that they will sell out quickly and the point chart for the 1-2 bedrooms is a little steep. I highly doubt that an unprepared non-dvc member will get any points. It might be worth it to get a small contract so you are in on the presale(you can always sell off your small contract later...or save it for the points you will need at KTV) As we are seeing at AKV, I think the WL will be huge for KTV not only for rooms but for purchases too. I think DVC knows this is one that will sell out in record time.

For me a nice 150-180 point contract will complete my "retirement home in Fl" nicely.
