Contemporary Kingdom Tower Points

Any word on the price per point?

No, but currently points are $104. I believe we're expecting a rate hike in the next couple months ($107?) and probably another before this goes on sale. So maybe $110 per point with a members' incentive discount in the pre-sale month(s).

Some are estimating it could go as high as $120 pp though.

While most here are savy enough to include special requests as to accommodations (floor, view, room #, etc.); i wonder how many of the "general population" does so when they make a ressie:confused3

Also, think it would be a big mistake if they don't have a viewing area for guests as to MK Wishes, etc.; perhaps even a private members only lounge:wizard:

we will go for at least 100 pts.(can't wait) that may change according to the incentive to members.:thumbsup2

the special members only viewing room would be a marvelous idea. are they planning a concierge? if so that may be where you can watch wishes from.:goodvibes

can anyone tell from the drawings where the monorail will connect?

many exciting prospects.:rainbow:

I am sorry if I missed something along the way... Any idea when the points are going on sale? We were planning to purchase more points. We own in SS now and we were thinking of purchasing additional points in AK. But maybe we should wait for CKT. Any thoughts?

Again, sorry if I am repeating a question previously addressed

i have no idea when the sales will start but have been told that it will be much sooner that originally planned. i also do not know what the price per point will be.:confused3

don't discount akv . it is a beautiful property and we have always loved staying there. you would also find some of disneys finest restaurants at ak.;)

how about some points at each.

As who#3 said, no one knows when sales will start. They have to officially announce it first and Florida has laws governing when timeshares can be sold. Given that (and with a pinch of my financial planning wishing), I don't expect sales to start before the next winter. AKV announced in Dec '06 and didn't go on sale until Feb '07. It didn't open for occupancy until July '07 and owners couldn't use their points for any reservation until then.

So if KTR doesn't open until Sep '09, it doesn't make sense to start selling points now. I'd be two use years out.

As for any add-on, you have to evaluate what you want and can afford. We added on recently too but that was for SSR. Our thinking was that we wanted enough points to finance all our possible stays at SSR. We toyed with the idea of AKV but decided it wasn't a place we had to return to every year. A trip now and then at 7 mos. is enough. With KTR, our goal is just to get enough points for a 3 day stay once a year. Because the resort is notably smaller and probably will have one of the highest demands, we don't think it'll be as easy to get at 7 mos.

But in the interim, we can stop paying for weekends and take the entire family on a grand gathering with our add-on points at SSR. And the SSR add-on has reduced the amount of points we're looking for at KTR. There's no need to use the add-on to finance grand gatherings or other resort stays.

I hope some of that was helpful to you.

Thanks for the information... We have think about this one... We really love AKV and the location of the CKT... Maybe we will split our purchase....

The only problem I see with purchasing at so many different times... We have already added on to our interest at SSR... So we already have two dates when our membership will end.... Do we really want three or four? I am worried that we will regret these several additional purchases down the line when our membership ends.... We have 150 that will end first, then 75 a year later, then maybe with a purchase at the others 100-150 ending at two or three years after that.... Any thoughts?

The monorail won't connect to the new building. There will be a raised walkway connecting the new building to the concourse of the current building. You would get the monorail there.

Agree completely but Disney has already done what they need to do according to Florida law. This is a passage from the Orlando Sentinel article:

"A spokesman for the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, which awarded a time-share license to the Kingdom Tower project earlier this month, said Disney has now been cleared to start selling units at any time.
"They can begin," department spokesman Sam Farkas said."

The article does go on to say that it doesn't look like Disney is any hurry to start selling but don't be surprised if they start at any time.

this is all just too exciting!!! :yay: we are founding members at akv and hope to also be founding members at kt. does that sound like a disney freak or not? ::yes::

someone said that this is to be a small dvc resort but i recently read that someone else said that it was to be a very large one. the info is probably in this thread somewhere but i don't remember reading it. does anyone know how many rooms (suites) and where that falls into the line-up of dvc resorts?
i know that vwl is supposed to be the smallest and bcv next, etc.

Regarding KT points..............Historically when sales begin for current members only, are there incentives from the get go? Or, do incentives always come later after they've been selling for a while?

History does not permit a prediction for something like KTR which DVC likely believes it can sell without a discount. When OKW originally went on sale, they sold it for $49 for a very short promotional period and then went to normal price of $51. During the rest of the 1990s to early 2000s, they didn't do any discount off of regular price per point except for VB and HH. I cannot quite recall what happened with VWL and BCV but I think neither had a discount off of regular price when they went on sale and DVC did not really start using at WDW resorts the sale method of having one set price and then a lower price as an "incentive" for all purchasers until SSR. When AKV started selling in 2007, they actually had a different price for existing members, $101, from new buyers, $104, and gave $8 a point off to both.

Thanks!...Interesting.....:scratchin

There's a floorplan somewhere? Can you point me to it?
You may want to look at this thread posted a couple of days ago

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1742002

BTW, the floorplan only shows villas that have a window to the outside of the curve. Maybe the inside will be only corridor? That could mean there won't be any pool views, or villas that face each other. I can definetely live with that.

If you do not have the MK view it seems a bit like a high rise hotel. Hmmmm.

AAAAAHHHH!!! Thanks for posting this- I am all a-twitter today over this and this was just what I was waiting for!!!!:goodvibes
Where is that "I worship you" smiley??? Found it!
:worship: You are the best!!!

By the way- I noticed recently a DIS poster named JGarcia- and just assumed it was an homage to the great Jerry G:hippie: - now I wonder if it is this writer? Anybody know?

really..... I thought of Jorge Garcia from the tv show LOST

my two cents:

I think they will start selling them this summer. Got a call from our guide telling us that they would be discontinuing the CM discount as of 6/30. I can only believe that this is related to the announcement of the KT sales.
