Contemporary garden room or Wilderness lodge standard room??? Which resort in these rooms has a shorter walk to the main building???

We stayed in a standard at wl and had quite a hike to the lobby. I would lean to the cr.

The garden wing can be a long hike too. I know as once my room was the furthest from the tower. It was manageable but so long.

The WL standard room will be in the main building, so technically no "walk"

The WL is my fave!

The CR garden wing is really a crap shoot. If you get a close room, it's a great location - right by the pool and pool bar and boat landings, and 2 seconds to the main building. But...if you get one of the farthest rooms, it's a bit of a hike. Nothing unreasonable, but just not very convenient.

Our WL room was quite far from the lobby though it was all indoor hallways. The rooms at the CR are much larger than those at the WL, if that makes a difference to you.

We love WL, but the choice probably comes down to your preference on theming. We love the quiet secluded feel of WL despite it being so close to MK. CR is even closer, and has more of a "in the middle of the action" feel to it.
As for walking distance, it will depend on your room location with either, but like others mentioned WL is all one building, but rooms that are close to buses are farther from the boats, etc. Some Garden Wing rooms are very close to the main building while others are farther to everything. Larger room size is a CR benefit, but that is more important to some than others.
Wherever you decide to stay, the other resort is jut a very short boat ride away. Enjoy!

Monorail to great restaurants in the GF & Poly and EPCOT.
Two great pool and views of MK fireworks
LARGE rooms - much bigger than WL
Taxi's in front if you need one
Wonderful CM's work there
Great shopping on the 4th floor
Chef Mickeys and California Grill in the building
2 sinks - queen beds - large closets and storage space
Can easily fit a cot or crib
The Garden rooms are closer to the pools.
If you are in the tower, you walk through a cold A/C lobby area to the elevator to get back to your room.
Did I say we loved our stay at CR?

WL ->
Pool has ducks swimming in it - disgusting - the pool is too small for the resort - DVC also swims in it - pool seems to be open 24/7 and noisy
Bottom line - the pool is Not a place we would swim.
I would love to test the pool water for contaminants.
Limited places to eat
Only boat to WL and bus to everywhere else
No taxi's in front of the WL
Small rooms - hard to fit a crib or cot
Did I say we had a miserable time at WL ?
