Hi all, I am planning a trip for next February and want to rent DVC points. I have it narrowed down to a 1BR at BLT or a studio at poly.

There will be 4 of us—mom, dad, 7yo and 4yo. The 4yo no longer naps.

I have no idea if we will be at the parks all day or want to come back in the afternoon to rest. Both kids are early risers (6am). We will also have park hoppers.

Any thoughts? Which would you choose? The price difference seems to be ~$1500, which of course id rather have in my pocket, but isn’t a big deal.

Thanks so much for any insight. I love this board!

It really just depends if you want separate sleeping spaces or not. We love the 1- and 2-bedroom villas because I like having a washer/dryer in the unit and like being able to spread out a bit. However, $1500 is a lot of money. If you feel you would be comfortable in a studio, I would pick that.

You will have two full bathrooms in a BLT 1-bdrm. Poly has a split bath and I believe 1 shower, plus 1 shower-tub combo, but only 1 toilet. It is also really nice having the washer-dryer in your unit. You will not have that in a studio. Also very hard to beat the walkability of BLT to MK. The monorails are not as reliable as your own two feet. How important is the pool? BLT and Contemporary pools are nothing special, Poly pool is quite popular.

BLT 1BR.

More space.
Walk to and from MK.
Privacy for Mom and Dad.

Since you'll be going in February, it's unlikely you'll be swimming much, so I'd definitely go with the bigger room at BLT if money isn't an issue. The Poly villa is cute but the living area is a bit small.

Poly all the way. I really like the entire Contemporary Resort (very underrated) but the Poly is just so relaxing.

I love the poly but in this case I would opt for 1 br at BLT more room. King size bed with privacy.

I didn't see how long you said you were staying, so that may sway things. We did a studio at Poly last year and would happily do it again.
I am in a 1 bedroom at BLT right now, and it is amazing. So much space for everyone to sprawl out, great views from the balcony, and your in room food options are much greater with a full fridge, oven, and toaster. Plus the ability to walk to and from the Magic Kingdom is a huge bonus.

Two other pieces to add.

1. If you are comparing Poly Standard View to BLT standard view, you may be disappointed when it comes time to book. While there are plenty of Standard Poly studios, only a small portion of the BLT rooms are considered standard view. Most are lake view. The standard ones are usually taken by owners before the 7 month mark.

2. My kids (4 and 6) have also dropped their naps, but after a long morning in the park, plus staying up for fireworks last night (viewed from our balcony!), they have both been napping for 2 hours now.

Currently , there isn't much availability for a standard BLT one bedroom villa. Just seven nights total for the month of February. Lake view is open all month right now. But that could change overnight. Polynesian availability is less than BLT one bedroom, but isn't bad at the moment. If you wait too long, neither will be available.

I have stayed in both and vastly prefer the BLT one bedroom! It was so nice to have a full kitchen; our own washer/dryer and two bathrooms as well as the extra storage. The Poly studio seemed poorly designed with the two bathroom areas but only one toilet!
