Contempo Cafe

We are staying at BLT for our upcoming trip. Does anyone have any opinions of the Contempo Cafe? What's the best thing to order for dinner? We are thinking of going here on our first night as we won't arrive at the hotel until 8pm. Either that or we were thinking of jumping on the monorail and going to Captain Cooks. ANy suggestions?

We love it here! Even though we didn't stay at the CR, we ate here twice during our last trip. I love the honey lime chicken sandwich and my mum enjoyed the multigrain turkey sandwich. I think my dad had a beefburger one time and he also tried the beef flatbread (which he preferred). The desserts are yummy as well - my personal fave wad the blackforest cupcake (choc cupcake filled with cherries with cream on top). The seating is fairly limited, but the only day we found this a problem was the day before thanksgiving. We asked a CM in chef mickeys if we could have a table in there (it was lunch time) and she said yes- so they laid out our table for us and brought our food! Also the bar across the way has seating you can use and is a lovely spot where you can look out onto the lake. All in all, an excellent place to eat!

We stayed at BLT in Sept and thought Contempo Cafe was really good. I agree the turkey sandwich was awesome. DH had the steak salad and that was good. We had the chicken alfredo which was yummy. Overall, a great CS with lots of different choices!

The Contempo Cafe is one of my favorite counter serivce locations in all of WDW and my two favorite items on their menu is the Chicken Ceasar Salad, with the dressing on it and I also like the Spice Crusted Mahi Sandwich. Anyway here is a link to their menu so you can everything that they offer.

Contempo Cafe is probably my favorite resort counter service restaurant. The touch screen ordering system is simple and efficient, and the menu is diverse and tasty.

I'll add another recommendation for the turkey sandwich. The combination of apple butter and brie cheese is wonderful on the thick egg bread. I also like the mahi-mahi sandwich.

Glad to hear all the rave reviews about Contempo Cafe. We are staying at CR in September therefore we have a lot of breakfasts planned there . I was kind of nervous about eating here again, because we ate there once for lunch and my DH and I had the cheese burgers which we did not care for (didn't like the whole wheat bun that they served with it), but after looking at the breakfast menu, I know there will be something for me and DH to get

We only ate one dinner here last year and that was enough. I had a flatbread and it was like eating cardboard (not kidding). The blackforest cupcake, however, was AMAZING!!!!

Breakfast, however, was just fine!

I agree, the cupcakes are to die for!! I know where I will be using a couple of my snack credits! We ate lunch there last year and it was just o.k.. Maybe they were having an off day. We will give it another try though this year since we will be back at the Contemporary. (Looks like we will be there the same time as you are. Have a great trip!)

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but the wheat bun is more the norm than the exception everywhere on property, not just Contempo

Oh don't worry, I am fully aware of the norm about the whole wheat buns (really wish ALL of WDW would go back to the regular white buns)....it's just when we went to Contempo Cafe for the first time little over a year ago, that was the first time we had the wheat buns and it put a bad taste in our mouth, not so much that we would never try Contempo Cafe again, but just never have the burgers again.

I also didn't like the wheat buns the 1st time I ordered their Cheeseburger, so I haven't ordered again.

Also two things I forgot to mention in my previous reply is that I also like their Pepperoni Flatbread Pizza and my favorite soup of the day they have is the Corn Chowder, which is available on Saturday's.
