We have been regular visitors to WDW since 2002. In the last 5 years, we've averaged 2 visits every 18 months & have taken advantage of the 4/3 deals, 40% off, etc. It allowed us to stay in deluxe accomodations & has really convinced me that I only want to stay at the deluxe levels moving forward.

Our last visit was in May @ WL. LOVED IT!! It seems to make sense at this point to buy into DVC. My debate is whether to buy direct @ BLT or re-sale @ SSR. We toured BLT & AKL duiring the May trip & I loved them both. I'm open to staying @ any of the properties because they all have unique things to offer.

It seems logical to save the up-front $$ & buy re-sale. At the same time, the lower MF's of BLT & the overall deisign & feel of that resort is a strong draw for me. I keep wondering if the $5000k or so that I'll save on the front end will matter much over the life of contact ownership.

Any thoughts?? TIA

:) There is a thread for "Choosing your Home resort" on the sticky at the top of the Forum in a sticky I think. I looked at the resales for a while. Exactly like you we have 'done Disney annually since our first trip in 2002.

I knew it would take longer to process a resale...when I called to inquire about direct sales..MS gave me points right away to use in Oct. We got free 2008 points as part of our incentive. The studio with SV that we are getting was about $3600 for our dates. We are actually getting 2 studios so we saved about $7000 right then.

If home resort doesn't matter to you then maybe resale is the way to go. I wanted to be able to get into AKV if my other choices/picks were not available. So we bought there. I think if we add on it may be dumb to NOT do resale....unless Disney offers an incentive of matching our add-on points from a previous year...then we may do direct again.

You could always add on slowly and pay cash via resale---I've seen 2 BLT reales recently, pricing wasn't great but if you want a few more months your options may improve there. I have heard rumors that BLT was 40% sold.

The lower MFs at BLT won't be a forever thing. Once it's sold out, they could go up drastically or at least more quickly than some others.

Given your statement here, I would say that resale is the way to go. However, on the flipside, given that you haven't stayed yet at SSR, it is a bit chancey to buy there sight unseen. Maybe something else to consider is buying at VWL...you obviously had a great experience there, and you are already familiar with the transportation to/from the parks. Either way, good luck during this exciting time for you - planning to buy DVC is so much fun! :goodvibes
