just booked a 5 night trip, staying at contemporary. got an AP rate of $219, however they also have POR or CBR for $109. is it worth the extra 110 a night for the contemp? i'm going alone, and this was supposed to be a quick inexpensive trip, but boy would i like to be on the monorail line...

any opinions?

Just my .02 here--see you've already been to POR, so why not try CR? Whether it's worth the extra $$--depends...We decided the tower view and a monorail resort is worth spending extra $$ on this time 'round, so we'll be at the CR in June. Can't wait! Have fun, whatever you decide! :flower:

I was in the same boat in March. We went with the Contemporary and LOVED it! We stayed in the North Wing, which is a little bit cheaper than the tower. I loved being able to walk to MK and take the monorail.

I'd go with the Contemporary, it's a great resort! Enjoy your vacation!

We stay at CR almost every time we go. It is truly our fav!!! In my opinion, it is truly worth the extra money to stay on the monorail. You can walk back to your resort after the Magic Kingdom fireworks/parade, instead of fighting the crowds (worth the price to me just for that!), and the restaurants are to die for. Be sure to eat breakfast at Chef Mickeys, and try to hit the California Grill. I can't say enough good things about CR-ENJOY!!!

Contemporary is great! I love the garden wings. We can sit in our room and watch the Electrical Water Pagent. It's so close to the Magic Kingdom, leaving at night is fairly easy, just a quick walk away. Treat yourself to that, I would!

thanks for the advice, i wouldnt mind treating myself, but would also like to save that extra money for CR and go another time in october after this trip in june... decisions decisions...

Are you male or female? Since you are going alone, I'd choose a resort like CR. I know WDW is safe and all, but if I was going by myself, I'd feel a lot more comfortable in a hotel with hallways instead of traipsing on long walkways through trees and other foliage.

That's me though...Ms Paranoid. :teeth:

thanks everyone. i've heard horrible things about the food court at CR, is this true?

Actually, the food there is good. They have a large menu of grill items, as well as a well stocked fridge of fresh salads, sandwiches, beer, cookies, you name it. Open long hours too. But there are fabulous restaurants on the 4th floor as well, so there's never a shortage of good food and drink there.

Yes, it's more of a grill than a food court but it's not bad. I definitely wouldn't call it horrible. Average fast food.

We had cheese pizza there that was suprisingly good--not great but better than I expected. The chicken fingers were the same as they are every where in WDW. Most of the time, we made the 10 minute walk to MK and ate their counter service, so we really didn't use the CR food court that much.
