contemorary or poly?

If your kids were younger and all needed strollers, then, yes, CR might be better just because you can walk to MK... Other than that, no advantage to Contemporary at all.

I agree the CR has a great location, I'm just not a fan of it's theme. The Polynesian just feels like more of a vacation to me, with the tropical landscape and long stretches of beach. The central atrium of the CR also gets WAY too loud for my tastes.

By the way Danny, LOVE the Appliance Direct guy in your sig!! Those commercials are the best!!

Never stayed at either, but would pick Poly hands down. Of resorts I've visited, which is pretty much all of them, Contemporary holds the least appeal for me. No theming at all.

right now we are booked for 5nts at port orleans riverside, stayed there last year, this will be our last trip to wdw for a while, therefore I'm willing to shell out more $$$$ for a nicer resort, have 3 kids, ages 6, 8 and 11, which hotel is better as far as theming for kids, transportation, and views, I'm open to all suggestions.:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Hmm... this is a hard one. I would have to choose Poly because of the theming. Your kids might not like the "business-look" at the Contemporary...

I have three kiddos about the same ages (5, 7 and 12) and we all chose Poly... Kids are very excited about it!

If you referring to the amount of conventions that go on at the Contemporary, the only time you would see the business look is around the convention center. Besides I think that's an unfair statement to say about the business look. I am not denying there are always conventions going on, however I know Coronado Springs which also has a convention center hosts just as many conventions as the Contemporary and no one complains about a business look over there. I think it's because they have more a theme, so others use the covention factor as an excuse not to stay at the Contemporary because they have less of a theme.

THANKS FOR ALL OF YOUR SUGGESTIONS, BUT AGAIN I MUST ASK IF I DECIDE TO GO WITH POLY, IS IT WORTH PAYING THE ADDITIONAL MONEY, THIS TIME WERE GOING TO BE AT POR ALLIGATOR BAYOU, ASIDES FROM THE GREAT TRANSPORTATION, VIEWS AND BEACH.............WHAT ARE THE MAJOR DIFFERENCES??

I have to respectfully disgaree there. We went to Chef Mickey's last month. We walked around a bit before and after breakfast and it seemed very business like to me. Even the front desk and registration area has a business type feel to it.

Best way I can describe it is to say I felt like I was going to a wedding reception at a hotel or a company's Christmas party. No vacation feel for me at all.

Well, great transportation, views and beaches are all great plusses to the Poly. You also have a great zero entry pool, larger rooms, can watch wishes and the electric water parade from the beach, (and maybe even your room), great restaurants, shops, etc. Can you tell I love the Poly??? I personally love the theming and decor...it's my fave. I think the time saved and dining flexibility allowed by being on the monorail is worth the price. Have you priced the difference between the different resorts that you are choosing? We use AAA quite a bit, and have found that when they have a good deal, the price between the Poly & the mods somrtimes isn't that bad. That's how we got hooked on the Poly in the first place. In 2002 we were planning to stay at CBR. AAA had a great deal for the Poly that was only a couple hundred more for the whole trip. I had liked the Poly from a few trips with my parents as a kid, efore the mods & values were even around. We went for that deal, and became hooked. We are trying WL this year at Christmas, due to another AAA can't pass it up deal, but we're afraid we'll miss "our Poly"

Well I still respectufully disagree because the guests who stay there for conventions have a right and they don't bother anyone. Besides I would rather have them staying there, compared to the Pop Warner kids because I have heard some horror stories of what they done to some of the Resorts in WDW.

Huh???

Are you saying that no one from Pop Warner visits/stays at CR???? I assure you they are all over CM's, the CR arcade, and probably swimming in the CR pool since it's so close to MK!

Agree with EVERYTHING you said!!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Don't worry though, as usual on this board, someone will be along soon to tell us how wrong we are! ;)

Everytime I read posts of the Pop Warner kids they have always said they stay at the All Stars, Pop Century or some of the Moderate Resorts because that is where they can get the best deals for everyone who is travelling.

Maybe some of them stay at the Contemporary, however I have not read any stories of some who do. Do they visit the Contemporary? I am sure some have visited there and played in the arcade, however once again I have not read any posts of people complaining about them at the Contemporary.

As for them swimming in the Contemporary pool if they are not staying there, everyone knows that is wrong so I don't need to say anything more about that.

I stayed at the CR for a very short 3 night stay last December. I did enjoy the resort but didn't really have enough time to explore it too much. I thought the newly renovated rooms were really nice but I prefer the Poly. The CR rooms have very little drawer storage if you like to unpack while on vacation. With your family of 5 I think you'd be better off at the Poly.

Now that my kids are older I've chosen not to pay the extra for a deluxe room but we take a family trip once a year and I take a few other trips also. Only you can decide if its worth the extra money.

At the Poly you will get a much larger room but you will likely get a room with the sinks inside the bathroom. I think 1 of the newer longhouses has sinks outside the bathroom like at POR. You will get queen size beds instead of full and a twin size daybed instead of a little trundle bed.

The Polynesian is more compact so the most remote at Poly will be closer than the most remote room at POR.

POR has a much larger foodcourt but I haven't stayed at Poly since they renovated Captain Jacks.

I really love the Poly with the beach, the tiki torches, the view of the castle changing color at night, the view of the fireworks, the Elec Water Parade, the music......BUT....my non Disney loving DH :scared1: enjoyed POFQ more last summer. He enjoyed the quiet atmosphere, the lush landscaping and forgetting that he was at WDW (and the foodcourt).
