Hi!

We booked our trip and later decided to add an extra night because of how the flights worked out. We are staying at the Grand Floridian.

When we added the extra night they didn't have the same room type available. So, it seems we have to move rooms which we can do but don't want to.

The agent said ask the hotel when we arrive but I would feel better if I called to straighten it out ahead of time.

Is there a way to contact the hotel manager directly? The agents seem to have no actual information about the hotel.

Our stay is in September which seems like an off time but Grand Floridian looks pretty booked.

Thank you!
Catherine

Calling ahead isn't going to help. You would have to have the same room category booked for all nights in order to ask to be able to stay in the same room for your entire stay. Even then, it's a request and not a guarantee, although it's rare that you would have to move in that instance. Is your agent willing to try to match the same room category for that last night? People cancel vacations all of the time and maybe something will open up.

When booking with a TA, they are the only ones that can call, WDW will not talk with you about a reservation made through a TA. Unless your TA can find the room category that matches, your best bet is to discuss this when you check in.

Disney World Resorts are structured differently than "normal" hotels. Managers are each resort essentially focus only on in-house guests. Even if you managed to get one on the phone, those managers wouldn't be able to do anything until you arrive at the resort.

Room inventory is control by a centralized Revenue Management department. They do not interact with guests. Essentially, they do not make exceptions for individual guests. While that's not great for you, it's an egalitarian approach that benefits more guests than it inconveniences.

Certainly, keep checking periodically. That said, if you have a different room type, you should fully expect to have to change rooms.

AFAIK there is no way to reach the Grand Floridian by telephone. You will likely have to wait until arrival when they will try their best to accommodate you, but be aware that it is likely that you will have to change rooms. It's a PITA but at least you are at the same resort which makes moving a little easier.

Good luck!

Hi!

We booked our trip and later decided to add an extra night because of how the flights worked out. We are staying at the Grand Floridian.

1. When we added the extra night they didn't have the same room type available. So, it seems we have to move rooms which we can do but don't want to.

2. The agent said ask the hotel when we arrive but I would feel better if I called to straighten it out ahead of time.

Is there a way to contact the hotel manager directly? The agents seem to have no actual information about the hotel.

3. Our stay is in September which seems like an off time but Grand Floridian looks pretty booked.

1. Yes, you will have to move because you booked two different room categories. The only way you can stay in the same room is to book the exact same resort and room category for both reservations and even then it is only a request. Most of the time you would be able to stay in the same room, but sometimes posters have said they had to move even when they had the same room category booked for both reservations.

2. You cannot contact the resort directly. Even though you can call the GF "phone number" you are actually getting a call center. They can see you dialed the GF number and will answer accordingly. Also, the resort cannot make room arrangements in advance of your arrival. If there is availability when you arrive you might be able to modify the second reservation.

By agent did you call Disney and make the reservation yourself or did you use a travel agent? If you used a travel agency they own your reservation so you will have to contact the TA because Disney will only talk to the TA about any changes to your resort reservations prior to your arrival.

3. There really isn't an off time anymore, but people will cancel so keep checking to see if you can either extend your stay by one night or book a one night reservation in the same room category.
